I have gallstones! Anyone Else?

I just came from my abdominal ultrasound and I have gallstones. That took me completely by surprise. I am now waiting to hear from Dr. Wallace's office because during the orientation meeting we were told if gallstones were present he would just remove the gall bladder during surgery. I am wondering if that will make it entirely and open RNY because I was originally expecting to qualify for lapascropic. I wonder what size of scars are involved? and if anyone is or had the same problem with gallstones. Anyone feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hi Gloria, I had gallstones, and had my gallbladder out via laproscope. I have an inch scar on the middle of my tummy, one in my belly button, and two small ones along my waistline. I am hoping to have WLS, so this isn't a problem for me. But, gallstones can cause horrible and excruciating pain, so you'll be glad they are gone. Your dr should be able to remove it via lap. Hope this helps! Good luck to you!! Shelley Rath
