Need help! Confused!
Hi, I am new here. I made the decision to have WLS and am now in the process of doing what I need to get the ball rolling. I have the support of my psychiatrist, therapist and pulmonologist. I chose a surgeon and am scheduled for an informational seminar in 2 weeks. Am I suppose to write the request letter to the insurance company? I know they pay for this surgery, just need to know if I am the one to request it or who does?
Any help would be appreciated!
Cindy
Cindy:
Congrads on making the decision. I did not submit a letter to my insurance company until after they denied me. My surgeons office submitted all the paperwork to the insurance company originally. I would recommend that you let them send in the intial paperwork, and then CALL THEM EVERYDAY until they can tell you they have it and are working on it. If you keep on top of the insurance company they may move faster on it. Plus you will be kept in the loop knowing what is going on. My approval took almost 3 months to get thru and if I had not contacted the insurance company several times a week, it would have taken longer. I had Dr. Rebchook in Platteville and he did a wonderful job. Also, if you don't already know, there is a support group that meets at the Platteville hospital the last Thursday of every month. (March 25 next meeting) We meet at 6pm. It is open to anybody regardless of who your doctor is, so please join us. We have people that have not had surgery yet, are waiting for approval, not decided yet and of course post op's as well. It is a great place to get info and support. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]. Good luck.
Vicky
Welcome Cynthia.
Your Dr.'s office will take care of that. Mine requested that I write a letter but it was "why" I wanted it and so on and so forth.
Who did you choose if you don't mind me asking??
Best of luck and feel free to email me anytime. I am still preop and it is a long rode and sometimes very frustrating...
Love, Gala
