Slow weight loss
Hey all. Need some suggestions. Had lap RNY 6 weeks ago and have only lost 22 pounds. I feel like I should have lost more by now and this is so frustrating. My dr thinks this is OK, but really I haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks. I am eating 60 gms protein but only about 700 calories. Need some suggestions on what I can do to boost weight loss. P.S. I also have had my thyroid removed a year ago due to cancer so metabolism is not there. Please help.
Joan,
I know it may not seem like a lot to you, but 22 pounds is a lot of weight!! And to lose that amount in 6 weeks! I think you are doing awesome!
Please remember that everyone loses at a different pace. You are doing everything right with your protein intake. Are you taking in enough water? How is your exercise going? Perhaps jump starting with a bit more exercise and a bit more water might help lose a bit quicker. Again, I think you are doing great!!
Just think, in another 6 weeks if you lose the same, you will have lost 44 total!! Every pound you lose will keep adding to the total, until before you know it, you are at goal!
Keep up the great work!!
Traci
Joan: I agree with Traci, 22 #'s is good and everyone does loose at their own pace. I remember about 2 mths out I hit a plateau that lasted almost 3 weeks and I was very frustrated. HOWEVER, I found out that the plateau was my body catching up to the weight loss. You may not see the pounds come off but you may see some inches which are just as important. Sounds like your doing everything you should, so don't be discouraged. I am now 6mths out and just hit the 70# mark and sometimes I feel that I should be loosing faster, but my doctor has said everyone is a little different and as long as you follow the protein, water, and exercise everything will work out. Please don't hesitate to email if you have any other questions. Good luck!!! Keep the faith, this to shall pass!!!!
