Hi everyone I just wanted to let you all know it is great to see all the posts out there and reading the profiles is a great inspiration. I really enjoy reading about all your great success'. So far I have only seen Dr. Wallace and have had the ultra sound of my abdomen. I had to quit smoking (smoke free 13 days cold turkey)!!!cut out the caffine same thing 13 days cold turkey and no soda!and I will have to see the nutritionist soon. This Thursday I go see the nut doctor and I am real nervous about that. What if I havn't tried enough diets? I do not have ANY medically supervised diets and am concerned about that. What if he thinks I am a nut? I am afraid to get my hopes up that the insurance will cover. You know the old expect the worst that way you wont be disappointed syndrome. Well now that I rambled on and on I will go but thank you all for the inspiration and hope. Sherry

Hi Sherry, I get to see a shrink on Thursday too! I'm also a little worried about not having enough medically supervised diets. I'm glad that you quit smoking, and have cut out caffeine. I don't smoke, but giving up the soda will be hard for me. But, I'm willing to give up all of it if it means I can have a better quality of life. As for seeing the nut doctor, don't be nervous. Tell him how you feel, that's what he's there for. Good luck to you!! Shelley Rath

Good Luck to you too! FYI the soda was easier than I thought I was a big Diet Coke person. Sherry

Ditto to all the above! Diet Coke is no longer in my vocab! I never thought that would be possible! Don't worry about the nut doc. They are really not there to judge us, at least mine wasn't. I didn't have MEDICALLY supervised diets either and had to do the 2nd level appeal thingie. I did bring up any and all family histories with health troubles! I beleive that is what was my "ace in the hole!" Genes were against me! ("Jeans", too, but not for long!) haha Best of luck ! You are in my prayers! Mags 210/183 Lap RNY 12/30/03

Hi Sherry, I wish you the very best with your journey! I also had surgery at Froedtert Hospital in June of 2003. They have a wonderful bariatric program and Dr. Wallace will take very good care of you, as will the rest of their staff! How did the doctor appt. go with the psychiatrist? I was very nervous about that part too, but I did fine. I am happy to hear you have quit smoking! What a gift to yourself! I never smoked, but I did give up my diet coke back in April of 2003, and it was very hard for me to do. But I have not had one since then, and honestly I don't miss it too much! I guess when you want something bad enough, like the gastric bypass surgery, you will do anything that you know will help you down the road! Now I drink water, crystal light, and fat-free milk. Please feel free to ask any questions if you have any. Do you attend the support group at Froedtert? I would recommend it as it is a wonderful support system. I love going! Perhaps we could meet up there and talk face to face if you would like to. There is just a wonderful group of people who attend! If you need more information, please ask. Take care and God bless your journey! Traci
