Anyone have Mercy/Care ins. and have you been approved yet? I started out with Mercy/Care and was denied. My insurance switched to WPS of Wisconsin and then the employer switched back to Mercy/care all within 1 month. What gets me so upset was that WPS said they would cover and then the employer switched back on me. Had my Dr. request that I have the surgery through Mercy, but they say that its not covered in the policy. They now want to know if i want to appeal, your darn right I want to appeal! Just wanted to know if anyone is have the same problem!
Your frustrations and complaints are shared by a lot of people with "managed care" insurance. I'm fortunate that I have an employer that has an insurance program that is not an HMO and my chances are 50/50 that I will actually have the surgery. However, I wanted to alert you to the posting below from "Rachel" about the "Wisconsin Medical Necessity" . . . I posted a link to the State of Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner's website that describes the "Independent Review Board" process. . . . You may be able to go this route if your appeal is denied and if your medical condition is severe enough you may be awarded the procedure through the IRB. Check out the link. . . and good luck.
