I just found this site a few days ago and added my profile. Glad to find this Wisconsin page to learn from everyone. I am looking into having my surgery with Dr. Wallace at Froedtert in Milwaukee. Anyone have any advice about Dr. Wallace? Any words of wisdom about what to expect when I first meet with him? I sent in all my paperwork last Friday and am now waiting to hear back from his office to get the ball rolling. Happy New Years to all!

Hi Rachel! Welcome to the boards! We are all glad you found us! I had surgery at Froedtert on June 2, 2003, however had Dr. Nakeeb as my surgeon. I know Dr. Wallace is wonderful, and personally know many people who had their surgery by him! Do you know about the support group at Froedtert? Actually we had a meeting tonight. They are held the last monday of each month at the Wisconsin Athletic Club from 6 pm-7:30 pm. I can give you more information if you need it. Just email me! Sounds like you have the ball rolling. I hope it is a smooth journey for you. Do you have any specific questions at this point? Keep us posted on your journey, and remember we are all here to support you in any way we can! Take care, Traci

hi Rachel, I had my first consult with Dr. Wallace in Oct. A friend of my wife had bypass surgery with him in february and she recomended him. You'll have a group meeting usually on a monday morning with Dr. Wallace and members of his support team giving a presentation. Afterwards you'll get and appt. usually within two weeks. Be forewarned he is no nonsense in his approach he'll tell you what you need to know instead of what you want to hear. You'll also have a psych eval. and probably a sleep study before they will submit your insurance. From first meeting to surgery is just about six months, But Froedert has an excellent support and follow up staff that will be available literally "just a phone call away". Good luck E RANDELL

Rachel-- Hi! Congrats on your decision to embark on this journey! I had surgery with Dr. Wallace on June 3, 2003. He is a caring, truthful, and trustworthy doctor. His comforting words were the last thing I heard going into my surgery, and he did a great job! Listen carefully when he meets with you..everything he says is true! I really couldn't have asked for a better doctor, or a better group of people to work with me than those at Froedert. Please keep posting to let me know how it's going! I didn't have surgery at Froedtert I had it at Columbia Hospital, with Dr. Siverhus, but I just wanted to welcome you. Good luck with your journey. It sounds like you have the ball rolling already. Chris
