HELP WITH MEALS
HI EVERYONE,
I'M 3 WEEKS POST-OP AND I'VE LOST 30LBS. MY DIETICIAN HAS ADVANCED ME TO FULL SOFT DIET. I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH VARIETY. WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME VARIETIES IN YOU MEALS. BREAKFAST IS THE ONE I'M HAVING THE MOST TROUBLE WITH. ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
BARB J.
Barb:
When I was on the soft diet, I ate alot of sugar free jello, refried beans with melted cheese on it, kidney beans (smashed up), mashed potatos (limited amt, no protein in it), cheese spread on crackers, and scrambled eggs. (sometimes eggs did not sit well in the beginning, so I would also try deviled eggs)
All stages of the diet get boring, because you are so limited in choices. Hang in there and I am sure once you get back to real food everything will get better.
Good luck and feel free to email any questions at anytime. I am 4 mths post up and down about 60 #'s and 24 inches.

Hi Barb!
I agree that almost all meals can be kind of boring early on! It is just so important to get your protein in first, then some additional foods if you are not full after your protein.
I am not a big breakfast eater, however my choices of foods include yogurt, cheese, scrambled eggs, peanut butter with crackers, and sometimes just a big glass of milk. Some programs will also allow a protein drink or protein bar in the morning for a meal (however my surgeon's office doesn't allow that).
I am now 6 months post-op, and am finding eating more enjoyable now than in the past few months. I can have more variety now, and most foods are tasting good again! It does get better over time!
Take care,
Traci
Hi Barb,
I am not much on breakfast either, I usually do a protien shake for breakfast, I have 1/2 of a single serving can of tuna with some FF miricle whip, and colby cheese diced up. with a cracker. or some cheese and crackers, or Refried beans FF of course with a little FF sour cream and cheese. YUM!!! Supper is the meal that I got sick the most on so I usually do something light like a soup (chicken ) and a protien shake for a snack at night.
Good luck

When doing a soft diet I would eat a lot of Fat Free/Sugar Free Pudding, Scrambled Eggs with cheese and taco seasoning, cottage cheese (you can put TONS of different things on it), crab salad (made with imitation crab and fat free mayo- miraclt whip has sugar in it), and hot cereal, like Low Carb Success cereals (YUM!).
I also like baked squash, and always make a big pot of homemade soup on Sundays, and freeze it for meals throughout the week.
