3 Months out
Hello fellow Wisconsinites. This week marks my 3 months since WLS. Just wanted to drop by with an update. I had my surgery Aug 13. I am down 41#'s from my surgery weight and 56#'s down from the start of this journey. The past few months have been filled with ups and downs. I find that I am a slow looser, but the dr says that is ok and not to worry about it. I have lost several inches around the waist and chest and hips so inches speak for themselves as well. I have not dumped yet. I hope that I don't start and at the same time wish that I would dump. I eat mostly meat at my meals including chicken nuggets, shrimp, turkey breast, taco meat/cheese, ground up hamburger, and lots of hormel chili. I find that 1/2 cup of food is general what I need to be full. I do eat salads now as well and put just lettuce, egg, mushrooms, ham and bacon bits on it with light lo cal french dressing. I enjoy being able to eat salads again. Occasionally we have pizza and I will eat only the topping. I drink alot of water and take my vitamins. I very seldom take my protein drinks anymore since I get most of my protein in the meats I eat. I am exercising 2-4 times a week via an exercise bike. My kids give me the exercise the other days I don't get on the bike. All in all I feel pretty good. Also experimented with a wine cooler and found that I can tolerate 1 bottle (in an hours time) but that I get warm and fuzzy quickly. Looking forward to getting to my goal of 175. I am just under 75#'s away. Good luck to all on this journey. If I can answer any questions for pre op or newly post ops, please email me and I will do my best.
Hi Vicky, Sounds like you are doing everything just right. I wouldn't be concerned about being a slow loser, as long as the scale keeps going down, that is all that counts. Sometimes I think it is better because your body can adjust better and you might not have a problem with a lot of loose skin. Take care and keep up the good work!
