Almost two months out
I will be two months post op on Nov. 5, and despite a few bumps in the road, all has gone pretty well... As of Sat, Oct. 25, I have lost 55 lbs since surgery. I have had one complication so far, which seems to be kind of common with my surgeons' patients. I developed a stricture in the new stomach outlet that was created by the RNY. It was completely closed off by scar tissue, thus preventing me from eating anything really for three weeks. After two days of not being able to tolerate water, I was admitted through the ER for dehydration, and then had the stomach outlet stretched open the following afternoon. Since the "stretching," I have felt like a completely new person, although I am beginning to wonder if I've lost any weight since. I had to revert to the dreaded pureed diet for a few weeks after the "stretching," but at least I can get fluids down and eat SOMETHING.
Despite the rather large "bump in the road," as long as the pounds keep coming off, I won't regret this procedure one bit!
