RNY on 05/28/03 with
Hi Amy, I waited 4 months after I got my approval until my surgery date. It drove me nuts. I have a LAP RNY 5 months ago. I'm down 103 lbs. I'm thrilled and feeling great. I've been very lucky. My surgery went well. There was about an 8 hour time frame that wasn't fun but all surgery has that as part of the bargin. Otherwise I did very well. I was driving by day 5 post op, off all pain meds and back in full swing by week 3. Again I've been lucky. I did pureed for 6 weeks faithfully and it was tough. It gets easier as you go. I've thrown up twice in 5 months. It wasn't fun but it makes me careful and also reminds me that my surgery is working. So far I don't eat any sugar (I take it one day at a time) but there is a lot of sugar free stuff that's great. I don't drink pop, beer or booze either. Getting used to not drinking with meals is kind of hard at times but a small price to pay. I can eat almost anything bu****ch it with breads, they make me feel too full. Amazing all the alternatives though that really make up for it, crakers, etc. My hair has falling out a lot which is typically but again a small price to pay. Thank goodness I had a very full head of hair! Best wishes! You'll be a whole new person this time next year! Tiffany
