Has anyone had surgery done by DR Sunby in Madison
Amy,
I had surgery with Huppenbecker and Sundby as a back up surgeon. I was also told Lap Rny, but when I got there it was almost positive that I was having open before I went in. That was how they did it. I had several complications after surgery not related to the surgery part, but my Thiamine dropped so low and no one knew what it was. It took about a month before they did, and I was in a wheelchair for about 3 weeks. I am no recoverying from it, but it will take 6-12 months before I have all my leg and feet movement back. I do walk a lot, but I get tired and I wobble down the hallways at work. I however would never discourage anyone from doing it. I have lost 86 lbs. since June. I had surgery on Oct 6 with Sunby and Hoepenbecker as a back up. I am still recovering. I had been in and out of the hospital since surgery, mostly in the hospital. I guess they messed up and had to redo the surgery when I was under. It took about 7 hours total instead of the 4. I am still unable to return to work because he has 2 drains in me. He doesnt want to operate again because of the risks involved. In the mean time I have been on TPN for the past week at home. I eat throught an IV. He is encouraging me to eat, but I get nausaus. I have lost about 20lbs since surgery. I am not focused on the weight loss right now, I just want to get better!
