Thank's Jules, if it wasn't for your profile, I would have been going in for the RNY, instead of the ds, and I also would not have had picked a better surgeon, the one fefore him was not making me feel comfortable at all!! and now I am here with a date on top of it June 29th @ 730am, I am so excited, and scared at the same time!! Thank you once again for your inspiring words, and your success which gives many the hope and inspiration to move forward!

I'm very happy with my RNY, but the quality of the surgeon and the comfort level makes all the difference in the world, no matter what procedure you choose.

Good luck on your journey!

I wanted to have a party when I heard but thought that wasn't a good idea since parties involve food and I was set on new path with food... but I could have!

With a good surgeon and the will power to do what it takes, (nothing you can't do), you will besucessful in no time.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations Tammy!  You are in great hands.  I agree with Zanne2324 - the surgeon and the skill of the surgeon MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE NO MATTER WHAT PROCEDURE  YOU ARE HAVING DONE!.. I know - my surgery was a complete failure and many, many other surgeons have made little innuendos that would imply it could have been surgical error.  My Surgeon, Kevin Wasco, is a discredit to the profession.  He kept telling my family and I that he knew exactly what to do to "fix it".  He just never quite got around to that.  He discussed (and documented in my patient notes) "that he and his partner were taking reduced fees because I was out of plan".  When we met with the medical director for network healthplan, we were provided information that showed that since Network had agreed to pay he was actually receiving MORE than if he was a contracted provider.  So not only is he a poor excuse for a surgeon, he also lies like you and I breathe.  Did you ever have a physician discuss fees with you?  We are in the process of creating a blog which will outline my entire experience.  It will contain scanned pages from his actual notes, so the world can see just who they are dealing with.  You will do great.  You have a reputable surgeon.  You are using a reputable facility and it will be a life changing experience for the positive.  Always remember - just listen to your body!  If you don't feel something is right, call your doctor!  99% of all physicians are good and ethical people who entered this profession for the right reasons - to help others!  I guess my outcome was the same - I lost an enormous amount of weight.  I just will never eat solid food again, I will never be able to keep myself nutritionally stable without injections of iron, B12, potassium drips , etc.  But that's OK.  Everything happens for a reason and I think I know the reason that God wanted this to happen to me.  That reason remains to be seen.  I know you'll be just fine - Kevin Wasco is the exception - not the norm!  Don't forget - ask questions, listen to your body.  This will be the greatest experience of your life.  You have obviously done your research so you are off to a great start just in the choice of surgeons!  Good Luck to you!
