I had Dr. Regan and there is nothing bad or negative that I can say about him.  A very informative, caring and excellent doctor.  He is gifted in his specialty of doing bypass for weight loss.  I had the RNY almost 2 years ago.  I was clse to 300# and today I am close to 135#.  I have had no complications to speak of.  The doctor and the staff at Columbia St Mary's Hospital are very good and compassionate people in their job.  I am almost 57 years old and the only thing I wish I would have done different is had the surgery earlier in my life.  One must stay on program 100% to see these results.  I am worth it and so are you.

I see Dr Reganj, but am still preop.  Your approval process will likely be determined by your insurance requirements.  I am on my final month of a 6 month supervised diet.  Had to see a psychiatrist too.  Pretty painless stuff.  Dr Regan feels that I will have a May surgery date.

Good luck

Dr Regan did my surgery on 08/04/2009 at 6:30 AM.  When I started on my journey I was 279 wearing a size 22, had unregulated blood pressure, needed to have knee surgery and was schedule to have back surgery.  When I was done with the six months pre stage that the insurance company want to see, I thought that it would be a while before the insurance would approve my surgery.  Mind you on my job it took WPS at that time about one year to approve this surgery, however on July 29 they submitted the paper work on July 31 the office was calling me to set the day for surgery which was 08/04 now I'm a size 9 and weighing in at 150.  Do you come to the support group? I haven't been in a few months but have to start again
I love Dr. Regan and the staff the only regret for me was what took me so long, oh by the way I no longer take blood pressure bills do not  I repeat do not have to have knee or back surgery.

I had Dr. Siverhus. He was fabulous. My approval was pretty quick, but it all depends on your insurance and what other things you have wrong. I had high blood pressure and insulin resistance (PCOS). The staff is all fabulous, from the nutritionists to the nurses. I haven't personally spoken with Dr. Regan, but Dr. Siverhus is very compassionate, knowledgeable and willing to take the time to answer your questions.

Hi!
I had RNY on 12/2010 with Dr Joe Regan. The office staff are great and really helped make the whole process easy. Their Center of Excellence program is well run and my insurance (Humana)  approved the 1st time submitted. I was very surprised, as my BMI was just at 40..."luckily", I have sleep apnea as well as hypertension, so that made it easy.
Good luck in your search!
