Need a Gym...

Anyone working out and know of a gym that's affordable in the Milwaukee area?  I used to be a member of the Wisconsin Atheltic Club and that was pricey ... I'm looking for a gym that's contract free. I'd REALLY like a personal trainer but I know that may be thinking too big. I don't make a lot of money, so any suggestions would be nice. I used to be apart of Bally's years ago and Snap Fitness. I was going to look into Anytime Fitness.. going to be calling them on Monday.

I go to Ballys and do the month to month no contract. I also have the nationwide so I can go to anyone. I sign up at the one in Cudahy but can go to anyone if I want too.

The only thing with the anytime fitness or other clubs like them is there is no swimming pool, whirl pool or sauna. I like those features. I sign up for a personal trainer its a bit pricey but worth it.

Here is there site you can also print up a 7 day trial period as well http://www.ballyfitness.com/
They have a special right now for $19 for one year but thats a contract. I paid $29.99 and I can cancel at any time no contract. Just had to pay 1st and last payment its automatically drawn from my checking account. I also got the nationwide one.

Hope this helps! I also notice there are others who had the rny go to bally's as well :)

I can't do a contract because I don't have reliable employment or if I'll have a job in a few days. Bally's is so-so to me. I really didn't care for it. I went to the one in Brookfield because I live on the northwest side. yeah tons of fun. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the gym thing or what not. I just threw it out there. Thanks though.

That is why I did the month to month so not have to worry about a contract. I like to be able to use the swimming pool, water aerobics and whirlpool. Have you try the one in west allis its on 60th or hawley road. The one west allis or cudahy is closet to me I live on the south side of Milwaukee. I still haven't gone to the one in West allis yet. I notice at Bally's they arent' very friendly. I just stay to myself and just do my workout. If someone talks to me I wll talk to them.

Have you gone to any of the support meetings?

No, I haven't gone to that one. I don't like water at all so I don't mind if places don't have swimming pools or what not. I have never gone to a meeting. I've only seen Dr. Chua once after my surgery. I have no insurance or money. I have problems eating solids but I eat too much of what I can eat. I don't know. I can't get badger care plus because I had previous coverage..have to wait 12 months from when that ended to reapply. I stopped caring a while ago. Almost a year without health insurance is rough. I'm not in the best of moods either right now. I applied for this job and they sent me a disclosure form and I wasn't exactly honest on my application... they have a company verify and pull employment records..so there goes that job. But it is what it is.. I give up on finding decent employment. I've burned too many bridges with employers and I did it to myself. Over a year, since I've worked basically.... besides this crap job that I have now...I make peanuts. Have a nice night.

Hi Nikki!  Try the "Y" - YMCA or YWCA.  They have what they call a "scholarship" where it's income based.  Also, it's not a contract unless you want auto bank account withdrawals then you must cancel 30days prior.  Take care & God bless you!

When did you have your surgery? How much have you lost so far?

Having the support is a great help. Meeting others that had the surgery or are thinking of having it is great. I really enjoy the meetings and go every month. It is run by one of the dietician's and also there is a specfic topic each month then after the topic we break up in 2 groups. Also every other month we bring in our old clothes so that others have something to wear while they lose weight.

Good luck to you and finding a gym you will like. My favorite is the elipitical. I usually do an hour on that and then go on the treadmill. I just start back again because I had a hysterectomy 5 weeks ago so been homebound for awhile so feels great to be back at the gym again

Have you found a gym yet? If so which one did you decide on? What were the cost of the gym?
