My case goes before the team today
Hi all! I've been so swamped this summer with vacation, moving my grandma from Detroit to Arkansas, writing a business plan, and a visit from my mother that it hasn't been funny, and I've missed hearing all the exciting news from all of you. I'm so glad to read that so many of you are doing so well. :)
My exciting news--my case goes before the team today, and I hope it gets approved and I hear from Dr. Chua's office about a surgery date very soon!

That's awesome! Either way it will come out with good news! Either they'll call you soon to schedule your appointment with Dr. Chua to decide on the type of surgery and then submit to insurance (if that's the way you are going). Otherwise, they will come back and want to see you for an appointment or 2 with the psych or nutritionist. That is also a good thing (even though it may seem like jumping through hoops). His team only wants to do surgery on the most ready people, and the ones that will maintain the healthy lifestyle that they teach us. It's a really good thing! I'll cross my fingers for you for the first one though! Take care!
I met with Lauren the PA today and Dr. Chua, and agreed that surgery is the way to go, not that any of us were surprised by that, mind you. We discussed the lap band surgery and the required tests prior to surgery. Now we just have to get the prior authorization from the insurance company and then set the date. :) Since I had already talked to the insurance company some months back to find out what I had to do (basically, have a BMI over 40, or over 35 with co-morbid conditions), I knew I already met the criteria. Hopefully the insurance company will approve it quickly. _And_ I had lost a couple pounds. :)
