work out groups or buddies who are having/had wls?

I was wondering if anyone knows of any work out groups or people who have had WLS or will and want a work out partner?  I wish there were groups mainly for us at like the YMCA or other health clubs but I have not seen or heard of any.  I just would feel it is safe and comfortable to be myself if I were working out with others who can relate to what I am going threw or I can share my expiernces with them.  I feel it would help me get back on a healthy track and refocus.

My story:  Had surgery 2.5yrs ago, lost over 90pds then had major spinal injury- had to have reconstructive surgery.  Was unable to be active at all for a very long time, caused DEEP depression which I am struggling with curently but now have insurance to see a doctor to help with it.  I am trying to find a way to get working out again and eating right - it's been so long that I have no idea what to eat and never had the education pre-op so I have always guessed or gone by if it makes me ill then I dont eat it.  But now I can eat ANYTHING and be fine- I just gain weight alot fast now.  I need to get motivation and get back on track.  Maybe it's too late and now impossible to lose weight?  I have no idea.

Any suggestion please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm currently living in West Bend and am in the same place as you, as far as needing to ger back on track.  I went to the YMCA out here and found out that I can get a discounted rate and am going in this week to get signed up.  I NEED to get back into it.  I too am suffering from depression and need this.  If you were out here, I would say that I would be your partner.  Good luck to you.

I'm in Kenosha.  I do Jazzercise - its so much fun.  I don't get bored because the routines change up.  We are a little spoiled here in Keno as far as Jazzercise is concerned - our classes are held at a place bought by the owners with lockers, a changing room and shock resistent flooring.  Most classes are held in school gyms and church auditoriums.  I love our space.

I think nNext week I'm trying a Zumba class - I've never been, so I'm really excited about trying it.  It's held at a different place and they charge $3.75 a class - pretty cheap!

I also walk for 45 minutes a day around my neighborhood - sometimes longer.

Have you gone to any support group meetings?  I haven't, but I really want to.  I think it would be a great place to get meet others to help you get back on track.  I just keep telling myself... just do it!

I went to my first support group meeting and I am glad I did. I could of been going for the last 6 months but just kept having excuse not to go. I guess I am afraid of meeting new people in person and to speak and introduce myself. I was so nervous when I had to introduce mysefl. Then many of them had questions to ask me. I met a lady that now calls me to check up on me. It is nice to meet new friends now.

Hi Maurie, Dr. Chua is my surgeon too (12/15/2009)... you have in your signature "Doc's goal" for your weight... did he tell you how much you should weigh?.... I don't recall him ever giving me a weight.  Thanks!  Theresa

It's been such a gorgeous summer I've been trying to walk on the sidewalk by the bea*****enosha a couple times a week.  Otherwise, I dance with my kids while playing Rock Band and I use my Wii and play Wii Fit a couple times a week.  It's totally cheesy, but it works and it's pretty fun.
