This sure has been a quite bunch lately. I know that people from Wisconsin know how to talk. We need to get this group going! I am 24 days post-op from Roux-en Y bypass. I only have 1 1/2 days left before I go back to work I only took off 4 of the 6 weeks I could have. I feel fine, just think it would have been nice to have more time. Eating is almost a full time job right now. (I just took a water sip break). So Wisconsin... what is on your mind?????

You're right.  This is a quiet forum.

I am 4.5 mos out.  Went back to work 3 weeks post op because I felt good.  Worked 1/2 day for the first three days because I thought I might get too tired.  It was OK.  I'm lucky that I can keep a tiny frig in my office so have access to shake and liquids all day.  Was so busy when I went back that I forgot to eat some meals.  Now have a schedule of supplements, shakes and  meal times posted above my desk--but still play catchup most days.

I was hoping to be at goal in 6 mos but am a lightweight and have averaged 2# a week after the first week post-op.  I gues I'll shoot for 8 mos to goal.

Going to knitting class tonight.   Expecting a new grandbaby in February so am sharpening up my knitting skills to knit a baby blanket.  Tonight is my second of two classes.  I may tackle some more advanced classes this winter.  I have designated one night a week to work on my project -- when my DH is not home--so I am not interrupted and can really concentrate.

Thanks for the reply! Congrats on becoming a Grandma! I am also worried about keeping up with the eating schedule. I will just have to do my best.

My surgeon was also Dr. Chaing.  I haven't figured out how to update that part of my profile or pics but I had my 1 year follow up with him last Thursday.  I am now 1 year, 1 week and 2 days out from RNY.  He presented me with DS also but because of the removal of the stomach and having a father in law that had to have his removed due to stomach cancer, I couldn't tell my family that I was doing that.  The RNY provides me the restriction I need and down the road if I need a revision, I'll probably address it then.

Have you had your surgery yet?

No, I haven't had my surgery yet. I'm just in the preop testing phase.

I took 3 weeks off--I remember those early days.  I was really tired after my RNY and I spent a lot of time in the bathroom early out.

I was on soft foods by the time I went back to work.  I started out with the Lean Cuisines, etc. just eating the protein and leaving the pasta but eating the vegies and small amounts of fruit.  After a while, I got into a better routine.  Sometimes weekends are more difficult because of the lack of structure.

I probably could have used another week but I was starting to feel better and needed to get back into a routine again.  I was exhausted that first week but it got easier as time went on.

Dr. Chaing was also my surgeon and on a scale of 1-10, he gets a 11.

We may be a quiet group, but I like to believe we are all active and don't have time for much computering! (Just kidding!) Not sure where everyone is hanging out, but as for myself, I'm guilty of not visiting here much lately. I like to get out and enjoy the weather befor the snow flies again! The nice part about the cool temperatures is that it's much easier to train for my next run! Only 62 more days until my first 1/2 marathon!  With my dumb luck, it'll be some sort of a crazy heat wave that day and I'll fry my shoes to the pavement!  Anyway, time to change the sprinklers!  Have a great week!
