Where do I go from here?

I have Badger Care -Dean HMO. I go for my psych eval on 7/7 and 7/16/09 and then they are submitting my information to badgercare. How long does is take for approval? Once they approve surgery, how long does it take to have the surgery? I am working with the UW health Bariatric Surgery program in Madison WI.

I have Dean insurance and they usually review cases on Tuesday's and Thursday's.  I took about a week for my approval.  Not sure about UW but surgery at St. Mary's was about 4-5 weeks after approval.  We had to attend a class for our pre-op diet and had to meet with the surgeon.

Thanks so much for the info. I am so nervous because I have read on here about people who have the same insurance and have more problems than me and they were denyed. I am not sure why the UW Health people would bring me in before submitting to insurance...maybe they are positive they can get it approved?

I'm not sure of the program at the UW.  At Dean, we had to do a six month supervised diet, psych eval, physical therapy eval and once we were approved we would meet with the surgeon.  We also had to attend at least two support groups (they would check the sign in sheets).  I hope things go smoothly for you.  Not sure if Badger Care is the same.

 I had BadgerCare Plus, called Children's Community Health Plan. I was approved in only a couple of days, once my papers were submitted to the right place! Then I had my surgery a month later.
