I am kinda freaking-my surgery is in one week, and I am so nervous and excited all in one.  It is really hard to concentrate at work, I have to finish Friday, monday, and tuesdau, then i am done!  Wendsday I am getting everything together, and then Thursday is the big day.  I am trying to decide what to have for my "last supper".  I am thinking scallops.  They are healthy, and ohhh so yummy.   We will see. I just want to get this part over with, get on with the recover at home! Anyways, wish me luck!

Good luck!  It's a great adventure.  I wasn't nervous going in, just excited, which is a good thing for me b/c they couldn't give me Versed, that "twilight sleep".  I was given it once before & stopped breathing briefly (no harm done!).  My surgeon didn't require that I go on a diet ahead of time & only required a 5-day liquid diet.  Sweet Jesus, "only" is an understatement in the firsty 2 days of only liquids - but, of course, that depends on your dr.  I think I had "last supper syndrome" for about one month straight prior to that liquid diet!

Yes, his program is very complete.  So far, I am not feeling so hot, but it hasn't been that long yet.  Eating is not so good. Nothing goes down well or tastes or sounds appealing at all.  Drinking is going okay, but I haven't started with milk or anything yet.  I had some dry heaves this morning that were very unpleasant!  I also get to work with blood sugars, since I am a type 1 diabetic (I have had diabetes since I was 3 years old).  So Dr doesn't want very low, which doesn't make me feel very good either.  Nobody tells you about this part of the surgery.  And I suppose everyone is different, but I just feel awful. I know it is too early to say if this is all worth it, I know it will be in the end, but I really do wish people were realistic about how you would feel after going home.  But it will get better! I know it will.  I has too! Thanks again for the concern and luck. It did go as well as they wanted, so that is good!
