I'm moving back to WI!

I'm originally from WI & moved to ND 5 years ago.  Aside from looking forward to being close to family & friends in WI again, I'm really looking forward to attending a support group.  It's pretty rural up here & the closest one is 80 miles away.  I just saw the post about the support group meeting yesterday - are these weekly or monthly?  Anyone with a WLS can attend a group, right?  It's not specific to surgery type?

THANKS!!!!

Hi and welcome home

Not sure which part of WI you'll be moving back to but Aurora Sinai downtown Milw. has support group meetings the 3rd. Weds. of each month. 6PM-8PM. Very good and informative as well as good group conversation. The meeting site is on the corner of 12th and state. Across the street from the main Hospital. Post if you need more info and good luck back in your hometown.

I'm so happy you are moving back and will be in a better place for yourself. How are you doing otherwise?

Hugs,

I'm stressin'!

Here I was a self-pay with NO $$$ saved.  I financed $14k to have it in Mexico while only receiving 60% of my pay while on short-term disability & the day that I get back to work, I'm told that my job is being eliminated with a 2 week notice.  You know, they made me actually "work" the last 2 weeks instead of giving me 2 weeks severence.  This is 255 miles WEEKLY to get to & from work (rural ND!) & I didn't do a darn thing!  NOTHING.  There was NO work to be done, my boss KNEW that & STILL made me come in both weeks just to sit at my desk.  Grrrr . . .

I'm moving to WI to move back in with my MOTHER at age 32, which is totally making feel like a loser.  I'll pay her $300/mo rent, which is still cheaper than living on my own, otherwise I just couldn't swing all the bills on unemployment.  Since I'm still working on my dissertation, I'm now worried about how I am going to collect data to do the study.  MAYBE UW-Milwaukee will let me, it's where I got my undergrad & I was a research assistan for 3 professors, so that will help, but it's still a BIG maybe as it will have to go in for faculty vote.

On the flip side, I am truly happy at the thought of returning to my family & old friends so in that case, it is a blessing in disguise.  I'm not depressed, but I do feel shiftless without a job.

Thanks for asking, Nancy!!!  How are things going for you as a post-op or in general?

Yikes! I am so sorry you have had to deal with all this and add all this stress to your life. You ex-boss sounds like an ass and he or she'll get what's coming. Karma is a bi#$&.

I am glad you are not depressed. I know that moving back home is very emotionally laden and I don't balme you for having angst. You are just doing what you have to in order to take care of yourself. Once you get the school thing finished you can move on to the next rung of the ladder back to complete independence. It'll just take a little time.

Just remember that **** happens to everyone but it is how we each manage to deal with it that makes us who we are. You are a strong, intelligent, determined , beautiful woman. You will make it!

Holla if you need another pep talk anytime. I've called on people for plenty of them in my life.

Girl I can totally relate to you I have been off work now since December 29th 2008 from a car accident and I am in the same boat kinda only the insurance company has been giving me grief , and they owe me for 5 months back pay on my day job now and I still haven't been paid yet I just had foot surgery on the 4th of May and since December I have gained 15lbs I hope that I can get better soon so i can lose some weight but because of inactivity I keep gaining more now I have more to lose I am hoping that I can some how get the insurance compay for the auto accident to pay for my surgery so I can lose all my weight because the foot surgery won't do any good if I don't lose weight.
so now I am behind on my bills I don't have medical insurance and i am only 4' 11 3/4" tall and weigh a whopping 250 I am so depressed that I can't stand myself right now.
you can add me as your friend if you like
God Bless

When I was enroaching on 300, I felt the same way.  Not happy with my physical self.  When I was growing up, "The Sound of Music" was one of my all-time favorite movies.  I like to believe in one of the lines - when God closes a door, someway he opens a window.  It may not be tomorrow or next month, but your situation will change.  The future always has the potential for good things.

Take care & drop me a line if you want to talk!

I assume you're ABD. In what? You should put a vita together and send it to Milwaukee Area Tech. College, UWM, Cardinal Stritch, etc.  I'm the adjunct coordinator for my department at Western Tech. College in La Crosse and we are still trying to find adjuncts to cover classes. Not only would a night class or two bring in a bit of income, it would get a foot in the door for your research and/or full time positions.
