Surgery Date Set
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around the boards since Sept. 08 and have been working on ins approval for the lap band surgery. I finally received a insurance approval last Thursday and a surgery date of May 12 with Dr. Chua. I am way beyond excited but a nervous wreck also. It's weird I've been so focused on getting past the hurdles that now that it's going to happen I'm a little freaked. LOL
Did this happen to anyone else?

Hi,
Did you have to do the 6 month supervised diet? How long did it take for your approval from the insurance company? What insurance do you have? I have May and Early June to finish of my supervised diet. Then it goes to Dr Chua office and then sometime after that I will get appt to see him then off to the insurance company.. Sure takes a long time. did you lose any weight during the 6 months? I have lost 41 lbs so far since Jan 8, 2009. Worried that losing to much weight before surgery will make my chances to be approve harder. I have been taking phentermine which has been my tool that been helping me thru these months of weight loss. Without it probably wouldn't of loss this much. You are so lucky to have yours coming up so soon. I have a feeling mine won't be to July or August. Which my kids will be out of school for the summer. One good thing they go back to school on August 17 my 45th birthday :)
Good luck with your surgery! Did you do the gi ultrasound before or after the insurance approval? What are the other test do they do is before the insurance approval or after? How long after did it take after insurance approved it to be scheduled. I know Dr Chua does these procedures alot. He is a busy man!

Hi,
I lucked out and didn't have to do a 6 month diet. Approval only took a week once it was turned into the insurance company by Dr. Chua's office. I started this by attending a seminar in September and have been going through the process up until now. I've not able to take phentermine or anything like that due to my high blood pressure.
I go for pre-op on Wednesday which will be chest x-ray, upper gi, blood work, ekg and I think that's all and it was after insurance approval. It's a wild trip and I'm excited but nervous. My insurance approved me last Thursday and Dr. Chua's office called with a May 12 surgery date. It was really fast.
Thanks for the good wishes and good luck with your surgery.

Hi and good luck with your surgery. I'm also a post op of Dr. Chua's. You're in good hands. He's very good.
Make sure you try to attend his support meetings the 3rd Weds. of each month. They're very informative and that first year post op you will need all the advice, knowledge, etc... you can get. Just my opinion. They are fun to attend. I really enjoy them.
Stay in touch and ask any questions you may have. This site is great !
