I had my surgery with Dr. Wallace 11/08 and my wife had her surgery on 12/08 by Dr. Wallace as well.

I saw Dr. Wallace only once after surgery which was my fisrt post-op visit and he looked at my incisions and answered any questions that I had.  He also spent time telling me that he has fix my body and the rest is up to me.  He is certainly all business and has a dry sense of humor.

I will say that the stay in the hospital was fine.  Could it have been better, sure.  But I was also there during the Thanksgiving holiday and I am sure that people were pulling double duty over the holiday.  The leak test is the worse of it because the drink is nasty tasting and you have to down a half a cup which is hard to do with a stomach pouch the size of an egg.

His nursing and support staff in the baractric group are fine.  It is rather boring seeing them one a month for 6 months, but that is necessary for them to get any feedback from you are answer any questions you may have.  My 6 month visit is next month and then I can finally move out next visit for 3 more months.

I have had zero complications from the surgery.  My wife developed a blodd clot in her leg about 20 days after surgery, but it may or may not be related to the surgery she had.

Both of us are down 50+ pounds and feeling much better.  I am no longer a Type 2 diabetic, I am off of my cholestrol meds as well.  After my 6 month visit, I will get a sleep study done and I hope to get off of my CPAP machine as well.

My biggest problem now is spending money on clothes as I lose weight.  I have received several comments about my weight loss, many wondering if there is something wrong with me but when I tell them that I am fine and just trying to lose weight, I get many compliments.

I also travel for my job and I can not even begin to tell you how my travel experience has improved.  The seat belts on the airlines have alot of slack in them now!

I hope everything goes well for you.  If there are any questions you may have, let me know.

Good Morning, Dr. Wallace performed my surgery on 4/21/09 and I have no complaints.  I do not recall seeing which type of surgery you are having.  I had lapband and my gallbladder removed. I was on pain meds for 24 hours and then I went home.  Other than a minor complication from not taking my reflux medicine I have no complaints. Dr. Wallace visited me more times than I remember.  It seem like someone from his staff was always coming by.  I felt the nursing staff as a whole was great.  They came right away and I can honestly say that I saw one at least every hour or so.  Even with the hiccup in my recovery which required me to be readmitted for 2 days, the second stay was just as great.  Dr. Wallace does seem gruff but he genuinely cares for his patients.   When I phoned after hours with my issue, the oncall resident responded immediately and when I arrived at the hospital, thinks moved pretty quickly to get me readmitted and hooked to an IV.  I wish you the best and know that under Dr. Wallace's care you will be fine.  Contact me if you have any further questions.

Hello,  I had surgery with Dr. Wallace in Nov 2007.  All went well.  I like him and he is very straight forward about things.  I only saw him once during my hospital stay....mostly it was people I didn't know.  I wasn't thrilled about that part but I know it is a teaching hospital.  The hospital, as far as staying there, is fine.  You do get a private room so that is nice.  After surgery, you only see the nurse for appts...I believe that only my inital in office appt after surgery was with him.  The hospital stay is no picnic......you think you would be resting but it is total opposite.  You have to walk all the time and drink sips of water continuously.  You constantly have to watch the clock and take a sip every 2 minutes.  So there was no watching TV or reading or doing crossword puzzles because you literally had to watch the clock and drink every two minutes.  So there is no resting to this surgery.

You have to do food journals for months and getting all the protein in my meals was not easy or fun.....but you have to do it.  If you can get passed the initial six months or so....you are home free......

I have had a very successful surgery.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  However, the choice is totally yours.....some people have a lot of issues and some don't.

Good luck on your surgery!!!
