has anyone been had dr. sunby or dr. heupenbecker?

hello all!
  Im getting ready for my first appt on feb. 3rd. i was just wondering if there was anyone eles on here that has has them for bypass sugury.

a friend from work had dr sunby and is 2 years out and doing great !

thats great! do you happen to know how long her process took?

it too her about 6 months to get all the appts in (labs etc) 
 she said her ins didnt  even have to the the supervised diet requirement and it took her that long.
but her bmi was 35 and I think she had a few more hoops to jump through

I am in the process right now.  I have my last two appointments, one on the 21st and the other on Feb 4th.  Wooo Hooo.

The process takes at least 6 months.  That is how long the medically supervised diet takes.

did you do that very low colorie diet or did you choose another option?

if you did do the very low calorie diet do you find yourself hungry all the time?

I am doing the SMA's (shared medical appointments).  I do like them.  You are in a group of about 10 people and it is a class on nutrition, lifestyle changes, dealing with emotions, etc.  You are weighed at each visit and see the doctor.  Not sure I could have done the VLCD.

I will have to do at least two weeks of the liquid diet prior to surgery.  That's okay with me.  I'm ready.  Anything that gets me closer to where I want to be.

I have never heard of SMA, that sound neat.  Is that set up with a nutritionist that Dr Sunby works with? 
I am going to my physician, just one appt so far, but kind of discouraging because she didnt know what she was to do for me at these medically supervised diet appts, so I joined weigh****chers too. Hoping that will back up the documentation.  Hope it all works out in my favor in the end.
