Anyone here pre op or post op looking for someone to work out with?  I am new to it and will be a slow starter as I must be careful after surgery.  I would love to join a group of post ops in a workout class or get a buddy to go to the gym with or take some classes.
I see there are tons of great classes for free at YMCA?
Any ideas or suggestions?  I live in Ozaukee area- could go walking together?

Glad to hear you're looking into working out. I swear by it and I think it's the key to success. I do the Body Pump class at the Y. VERY good. Works all major muscle groups. You will need to start with some cardio to for fat burning. 30-45 mins. for starters. Mix it up, Bike, treadmill, eliptical etc... But try to do at least 30 mins. straight.

I had a personal trainer and that really helped me get started. Water aerobics is also good. I started this 2 weeks post op and continued for about a month then moved into the                    " Big Gym " area with all the fit people. : )
Good Luck. Wish we lived closer.

I haven't done water aerobics since I was 6 weeks post op. I don't even know when they hold them. I wouldn't mind going again though. Do you have a certain day and time you go? Let me know. I would join you.

My wife and I have just been doing "The Biggest Loser Workout" and working out on my Total Gym at my house.  I also have a workout facility at my Apartment Complex with a treadmill, freeweights, and a eliptical/stairmaster machine.  If your interested in working out with us your more then welcome.  We are out in Brookfield.  I am having the surgery, my wife is not, she's doing it for support and to help her lose weight on her own.

I'm anxious to work out, got a YMCA 2-3 blocks from here. But their elevator is out, and I cant get up to their second floor gym. (I'm confined to a wheelchair). Hopefully next week its done, they had people come to start working on it today. But I have such an urge to work out, its unbelievable!!!

Hey Neil! I should come up to Oshkosh and work out with you. I go to the Fondy Y every day. They're tearing it apart and building a bigger, better facility. It's slightly inconvenient while this is going on.

I'm really glad to hear you're feeling the urge to work out. That's a good sign!

That would be awesome to have someone to workout with. Have you been to the one downtown in Oshkosh?? Of course you know, I'd be wanting to hug you all the time too LOL

Hey Huggy,

I haven't been to the Oshkosh Y since I was about 4 years old. (So, yeah, a little while ago.)
Is it still in the same location? I know there's the new Y... Have you ever gone to that one? Maybe they'd have better access? I know the FdL one is beaten down pretty well. They can't get the new one built fast enough. I always want to go in the pool, but it's chlorinated to within an inch of its life and that scares me. I don't want my hair turning green and falling out!
