I have/ had UMR Aurora and was approved quite fast once my Doctor submitted the paperwork. 72 hours to be exact. Call UMR and stay on their case. I called starting on day one and day 2,  and day 3 I was approved. I also had RNY and really had no pre-exsisting conditions other then a BMI of 41. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Hi,

the coordinator at the clinic states that i am actually waiting for a predetermination v''s precertification.  I guess i don't know the difference.  she said it  typically takes about 4 weeks for this insurance.  gosh,  it will be 3 weeks on Friday and they tell me my fax is sitting in a pile waiting for review.  do you think it helps for me to call the insurance company myself again?  My BMI is 42 and I do have pre-existing conditions but gained 6 pounds during this so called 6 pound weight loss program I was supposed to be on for insurance purposes.
Thanks for your feed back, it is encouraging.  Sandy

Hi , I know how you feel . Well kind of . I have insurance approval for the surgery , I even have the doctors recommendation for it but I can't get it because I'm to far from any bariatric center of Excellence . Bummer . I have waited almost twenty years to find a doctor that will realize my problem with food and eating and truly try to help me . Now I have and I am a two hour drive from any doctor that will help me with my insurance . I will hope and pray that you have the courage to keep nagging your insurance company for approval . Maybe in the summer I'll attempt the long drive and get started on getting the surgery for myself . If it was only for the surgery that would not be the problem the problem is that most surgeons want you to see them several times first to make sure this is the right thing to do . I know that is the right thing to do . I just wish i didn't have so far to drive for it . Any way good luck with yours .
