Cost of Lap Bypass in Madison

I'm have gastric bypass in January at UW Hospitals in Madison thru the UW Baritric Clinic.  I've asked for a price quote and they wouldn't give one.  I got a list of the Drs price for lap & open bypass, but it didn't include the cost of the hospital.  My insurance will only pay $35,000 lifetime for gastric bypass surgery.  I wanted to get any amount over $35,000 in my flex spending for next year but that's due this Friday.  Can anyone tell me what it cost them???????   Thanks,

I had VSG rather than lap-band (no fills needed, which can get spendy).  I paid 9500 in Mexico.  Call me crazy, but the doctor was wonderful and I had a terrific team in the US that I worked with to coordinate it.  US healthcare is so expensive, and I know from several family members who work in healthcare that there is so much waste... expenses that we as patients end up paying for.  Of course, for me, insurance wouldn't pay so I had little choice of where to go.   Best of luck to you!

I am planning on having my lap bypass done at St. Mary's.  When I attended the info seminar at the Dean clinic they gave us a sheet of how much it would cost to pay out of pocket.  I can take a look at those when I get home and let you know what they charge.  Might not be the same but it should be close.

I believe that is for the surgery, anesthesia and follow up (blood tests etc.) itself not for the actual hospital stay double check with your insurance for sure but I think that is the case

My docs charge 25000 for rny surgery by itself.
Then the anesthesia and hospital are seperate

I think it was around $22,000 last year when I was there. I did have lap band though. Connie
