Seriously!!

I had my RNY on April 29th.  I'm having a hard hard time remembering what kind of foods I can eat & I cannot eat.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to have 2 - 3 months post op?

I find myself eating crap that I know I shouldn't & paying for it.

Someone help me!!

Ohhh Kate! Ok.. I had my surgery 1 day before you.... I can eat "anything" within reason. Always start out on your protien. I eat things like tuna salad, broiled fish with I can't believe its not butter spray, chicken breast, turkey, beef, tofu, eggs (any style) peanut butter, etc.

Stay away from sugars and carbs. You can have some carbs in moderation.. but don't sit down to a spaghetti dinner!

Avoid snacking. But if you feel the need to cruch, look more towards your veggies. Fruits are nummy but have a lot of natural carbs. You also have to be careful with your fruits because of the natural sugars... you might dump off of them. I haven't dumped off of any fruits yet.
Yogurt, cheese, and SF jellow and SF popcicles.

Remember to drink 64 + oz of water a day and 65 grams protien minimum.

Remember to take all of your vitamins, multi vitamins, B complex, B12, calcium citrate, iron.

Weigh and measure your food if you are unsure of the amount, and eat slow! No drinking 20 minutes before or 30 minutes after your protien meals.

Hi Denise,

I am glad that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

I had my surgery on July 9th and between the pre-op diet and the only things I can have besides clear liquid are pureed chunky soup, cream of wheat, protein shakes (2 8 oz day w/skim milk), and yogurt.  I am starting to get cravings again (especially since I am still recovering and tv makes food look better than it probably is.  I have not waivered because I know what is at the end of the tunnel.

Once I "graduate" to some pureed food and progress, your advice is good to follow.  I got a 2 oz and 4 oz measuring cup from Pampered Chef (my daughter sells it) for measuring and I do have a food scale that I have had to dust off.
