Ok... Whats going on here........
CONGRATS CINDY!!! Isn't it exciting when you finally get that approval letter??? I still remember how I felt when I found out I was approved. It was an awesome feeling that I don't think I can describe. I got my date with in days of the approval. Its wonderful that your sisters have had it as well.. you have a great support system around you!!
Good for you Julie on losing the weight! I have to admit.. for so much of my 6 months pre op I didn't follow the diet. In fact I was dealing with some hard core last supper syndrome and ended up GAINING 26 more lbs! Then for the last month before surgery I buckled down... because by then I was scared to death of them NOT doing the surgery b/c my liver was too big. So then I lost 13 lbs that last month. Sometimes I wonder how much my weight would be down now if I had followed the pre op diet religiously?? But..hindsight is 20/20... I am a firm believer that where I am right now is exactly where I am meant to be. Keep us posted on your pre op.. and if you have any questions.. please feel free to ask so we can keep this board moving :-))
Welcome to the board. I'm sure your sisters are a great support for you. It's nice to have someone close to turn to for questions etc...
Good Luck on your journey and to everyone who is starting off. Last year at this time I was starting off. I'm 8 months post op now and a new person.

Hi Cindy I hope you recieve your approval letter soon, it only took about a week and a half to get my approval, and that was just from me calling them and my dr's office just writing a note of my comorbidities. All of the girls at the surgeons office says it never usually goes that fast, I told them lets get it done before they change their minds....lol
My daughter had an open RNY almost 3 yrs ago, she looks really good but she is going back to her old habits which makes me unhappy. Fast foods all the time, lots of drinking alchol, she has put 17lbs back on so far. She is staying with me right now so hopefully she will get back into the groove of good eating. I hope so it sure would be a shame to waste it all.
I have started my preop diet earlier this week and have lost 3lb so far, I don't have any problems during the day with my diet except still struggling with the water thing. I got 5 bottles in me yesterday so I am getting there. But I have a problem with late night snacking. I don't sleep well at night so I am constantly up and down and always checking out the cupboards and frig, this is a real problem for me and I don't know how to deal with it.
Oopps! here I go just ramblin on, anyways I hope you get you letter very soon.
Hi everyone, I usually go to the main board and decided to try to find people closer to me so here I am. I am pre op, I have been approved by my insurance co like within a week. I am still finding it hard to believe but 2 different people from the insurance co and Elaine from Dr Wasco's office said its an approval letter. I have to go Wens to Dr Groh's office for my results from my psyche eval which worries me, and I see Lori Knapp on Thurs for 1 visit. Then I guess 4 weeks of the pre op diet. Elaine says I can probably figure the early part of August for my surgery. I am so looking forward to my new life.
Hello Everyone,
I don't know how or if I can start a new thread, so I just posted here.
I am just beginning to research having weight loss surgery. I have a couple questions...
Where to start... That is the biggest question. Here is what I know. I know my insurance covers RNY and I have found a doctor in my plan located in GB. That's about it.
What next? Do I need to try Weigh****chers or something? I see many of you have to go to a dietician?
How long does the surgery keep you out of work?
I have back and knee pain. Can anybody relate? Did it go away after the surgery?
What do you eat? What can't you eat?
Can you still drink coffee? Beer? Wine? Any alcohol? Soda?
Thanks in advance!
