I just want someone to listen to me whine!! I still cannot tell when I am full and eat too much and get sick.  I am still having trouble getting enough protein and water.  I get sick about half the time when I eat, although I don't puke, so maybe is isn't too bad.  On the positive side, I have lost 41 pounds, although I didn't lose anything last week.  I know things will get better, I'm just impatient.

There is nothing positive about losing 41# if you are doing it in a unhealthy way or you are not adapting your lifestyle to fit your new body. You cannot go through this journey getting sick with every meal. That would be hoorible. I don't want to rain on your parade but hon you need to take a look at what you are eating that is getting you sick in the first place. Scale back a bit. You should not eat till you are full, mainly because it is not even possible that you are hungry at this point. What you feel is head hunger. SMALL portions, several times a day. You should be drinking (sipping) at all times. Back in the beginning, I never left home without a water bottle. You need the hydration... if not you will pay the price later. Being dehydrated as a bariatric person HAPPENS... A LOT and it is not fun. You will have major pain issues adn GI issues. Keep drinking. Want to kill 2 birds with one stone, drink milk. It has protien and will hydrate. It goes through your pouch fast so you wont feel full for long. Problem is many of us after WLS gets to be lactose intolerant ... hopefully it is not you....  Drink sugar free kool aid if you don't like water. Just do something to get it in.  As far as protien. Try cottage cheese... it is loaded in Protien! I mix mine ( everyday) with a sprinkle of sugar free jello ( any flavor) and some cool whip. If you whip it up it feels like a dessert adn it is not.... try that. It was a good fix for me, I was sick of the taste of cottage cheese.  I hated the protien drinks but I must say they were a bit better if you jazz them up with extracts ( Choc. protien in a blender with a milk and add some banana extract---yum). I also found over the years that NECTAR makes a protien drink you add to water. I bought it at the vitamin shop. I got the Fuzzy navel and instead of plain ole water I mixed it well with Crystal lights sunrise orange kool aide.... It was not bad at all.... you need to experiment.  Good luck!

Thank you for your interest and reply.  I am going to try your cottage cheese tip.  Of course, I cannot drink milk--that would be too easy!!  I got sick from all the protein drinks until this week when I tried 2 from GNC, although my program frowns on protein drinks.  I was told after my WLS that I have liver disease, and not enough protein is harmful, so that is why I try to eat as much as possible.  But I think now that I can drink a couple of protein drinks, I can relax a little and not pu**** and hopefully not get sick as often.  I did fine with water until I went back to work--I think I just have to get used to drinking while I do everything else. I read your web page.  Congrats on your hard work and success!!  I am determined to be a success, too, especially since my health and life depends on it.  I was a little upset when the liver guy told me I not only have to lose a lot of weight, I must get to a normal weight as being even a little overweight is bad for liver disease.  But at least it is something I have control over and can remedy. Thank you again.

There was a similar post in the RNY main forum.  One thing some of the grads said to look for is your body's "signs" that you are full.  You will never feel "full" the way you did pre surgery.. but your body has different ways of telling you.  The grads said it usually occurs 2-3 mo post op.. things such as hiccuping or your nose running are some examples. Pay attention when you eat and see if any signs happen routinely that you can use.  Good luck!  I have to try her cottage cheese trick too when I get to the point I can't stand it! LOL

Hey, Denise--I'm not good at computers.  I set up a ticker at the website, but I cannot paste it here.  Do you feel like helping me????

Hey.. No problem!  Forgive me if I get too detailed in my explanation below. I have changed colors to the part that I think you need assistance on.  I'm used to helping my mom..she is completly computer illiterate and I have to explain everything step by step.  I guess its better to have too much info rather than not enough sometimes!  Let me know if this doesn't work for you!  Have a great day! www.tickerfactory.com

select the ticker that best suits your situation... I'm assuming you would want the one for weight loss.

"design" your ticker.

enter any information you need to enter with regards to your weight and click next.  Your ticker is done.

Do not get the ticker code... that won't work in  OH... instead do a right mouse click on the actual ticker and select copy.

When you are in the forum.. along the left hand side you will see a link that says "User Settings".

When you click on User settings it will take you another page that will let you update your avatar(picture for posts) your signature, display name.. etc.

Now you want to go to the area that says Signature.... Do a right mouse click and select paste.  This will paste the ticker into your signature.

If it didn't work.. then go back over the steps again.

Thanks Denise I have been trying to figure out how to do that here. Went to the nut today, finally done with the 6mo weight loss thing for insurance , lost some more weight.  Just sent a email to the office asking if they have everything they need to submit to insurance and how long it will take to prepare the submission.  I guess the nurse practioner does that.   I have an appointment to go into the office on the 16th hopefully they will have sent it for approval by then.  IF not I am going to be more than upset.  I am getting close to the point of saying FORGET IT!!!  Patience and me just don't go hand and hand

lol I have to laugh because me and patience don't go well together either!!!   Let me tell you what happened with me...  I had my last appt with Lori on Dec 4. She checked with Elaine and they said I had everything needed for insurance to be submitted now.  So my thought was that it was going to be submitted in the next week. BUT that didn't happen.  I called insurance two weeks after that and they did not have the pre auth. Then christmas came and went. I emailed Elain on Dec 27 and she said that my information was i "drafting" (I think it was drafting..) Anyway.. its the part of the process where the Surgeons office is writting a summary letter to insurance outlining your co morbidities. You will get a copy of this letter when they send it out.  THEN on January 2.. almost one month since my last appointment I got my letter. So I had decided to wait another week before I contacted insurance again.... then I got my response by mail on January 7 from insurance.   Its been a long haul for me since that last reqired visit was done on Dec. 4.  FINALLY almost 5 months later I am getting the sugery.  So even tho patience is not your strong suit.. its something you may need to hang in there for!!!   I'm not trying to be the bearer of bad news..because everything might go extremely smooth for you.. and I hope it does!!! But.... I don't want you to stress and say FORGET IT if it doesn't!  Oh.. and it never hurts to call the office before your appt and question if the pre auth was submitted or where they are in the process of preparing your paper work!  I may have hit them at a very busy time with the holidays and all!!   Anyway.. keep me posted and don't let what I say here discourage you.. but rather use it as information or a timeline.. maybe you can help them speed up the process since you now know what the steps involved are!!

Thanks for the info.  I got an email from Elaine this am.  They do have all the necessary info and it is now with the Nurse practioner who is drafting the the letter for the insurance.  I am sure I am not the only one.  I have an appointment on April 16 with the doctor. So I am going to be patient til then. By then they should have the letter written and off to the insurance company.  My guess is that like any DR, office you can pretty much write off the time between Thanksgiving and Jan 15.  Not much gets accomplished then but Xmas shopping. So taking out that 2 months you have waited 3 months and that is still entirely too long!!!!

Hi.  I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and had been having the same problems with not knowing when I was full and then not feeling so good when I over ate.  What has been helping me is measuring my food.  If I follow the guidelines from my dietician and measure the portions she says I should be eating, I don't feel sick after I eat, but once I don't measure and eat too much, I definitely know it!
