Hi All!  I'm new to this site/forum.  I heard about it from a couple of ladies that were at a support group I attended tonight...THANK YOU!  I had surgery just over 2 weeks ago and am still having some pain inside, kind of feels like tight, over worked muscles... sometimes hurts to even lightly touch my stomach.  I've talked with a nurse and was told this is normal.  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long it lasted? Thanks!

I know I was pretty much pain free by a month out.  But I do remember having left sided pain by my largest incision that I can only describe as my pouch and old stomach rubbing together..which I don't even think is possible...but that's what it felt like.  And it was worse if I sat for longer periods of time. What kind of surgery did you have?

Hi.  I had lap roux en y and my pain is also on my left side by my largest incision, so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that has experienced that and I'm even more happy to hear it should be gone soon!  Thanks!

Hello, I am three week out and I still have some pains here and there, especially on my left side.  My dad (who is a year out) reminded me that my insides were cut up and rearranged and that makes sense, lol.  The nurse told me it was normal and it's the muscles healing from not only being cut, or moved, but also stretched from the air/water they pump in you during surgery.  Like I said, I'm three weeks post op and I'm feeling better everyday!  The week I had the drain removed was HORRIBLE, but like I said, everyday is better and I'm now able to bend and move around easier than before!  Good luck!

Hello, Welcome!! I had pain also for about a month, I was told it was completley normal, it was about 4-5 weeks before I was back to normal I always felt like I pulled a muscel in my stomache or something like when I tried to get out of bed or stand up or something....just a word of advice don't over due the physical activity it will only make it worse.  I was about 2 weeks out and feeling better, so I decided to go grocery shopping by myself and then carry all the groceries up to our second story apartment........big mistake I was in  a lot of pain the next few days. Good luck and don't worry the pain will be gone before you know it!!  Take care meilssa

You will have pain for a few weeks to a month. Think about how big of a surgery this was to your body. It is misleading because from teh outside it looks like little bandaide wounds but on teh inside you had a major over haul. I Remember when I was a few weeks out I went walking ( around the nieghborhood) and dear god did I hurt, I way over did it.... My body was NOT ready for that much activity. Just take it easy. YOU WILL lose the wt, you just need to heal. I have hear that the left side is alway more painful than the right, I am guessing it has to do with the amount of work tey do to you intestines on the left side.... who was your surgeon? Just curious.
