3 Days Into Liquid Diet...

I'm three days into my 2 week liquid diet and am doing great. Why is that? I ask that with humor because I fully expected to be out of my mind with hunger when in fact, I can barely get in all of the liquids I'm supposed to. Has anyone else had that experience? Even my husband and kids think sugar free Jello tastes great!  I know it's early on and by day 8 I may feel differently, but so far so good.

That's wonderful that you're dealing with it so well.  I hope that continues for you!  I don't remember it being horrible...but I don't think I was a very happy camper those couple weeks...LOL. Not long now!

I wasn't hungry at all during the 2 week liquid diet--bored maybe, but not hungry. I did find that Swanson makes a chicken broth with garlic that tasted awesome to me toward the end of the two weeks.

You'll be fine and the UW program is fabulous!

You've got it exactly right Connie - it's boring eating. A week ago, I would've never thought eating would be boring! I just picked up some Campbells vegetable soup (to strain for the broth) just to mix it up a bit from the chicken. Living life on the wild side!

It's very reassuring to hear so many fabulous comments about the UW program and Meriter/UW hospitals. I feel like I'm in amazing hands. I'll meet Dr. Garren on Monday for the pre-op consult and then its just a matter of days!

Hi, I am waiting for appointments. I hoped you might reassure me as I went through a bad LAP Hysterectomy 4 years ago with an indifferent surgeon who sent me home after just one day even though I couldn't keep anything down or use the bathroom, etc. Is the UW program really good? Dr. Garren seemed nice, but how is he bedside? Do they have the gowns, etc. for us size challenged individuals or do they stuff us into the regular gowns? I am sorry to impose upon you, as we've never spoken before, but I get worried sometimes...

UW has the most amazing equipment--really big chairs, beds, gowns, everything. Even the toilets which hang on the wall are supported up to 1000 lbs. I had the surgery at Meriter, though and can't speak for the UW hospital, but the UW clinics have big chairs. I felt little sitting in them! Dr. Garren's personality is great all the time. He is very kind and considerate! Eye candy too! I can't imagine a better experience than I had at Meriter and the UW Clinics. I work in medicine so I am kind of fussy!
