Hi, my name is Nicci and I had lapband surgery many years ago. I had extreme pain and horrible complications from the Get-go. Long story-short, I had the band removed in 2005. (NOT by the original surgeon. HE claimed there was nothing wrong with me, while in reality, my stomach was twisted and I was about to die.) I suffered with left shoulder pain for 2 years, as well as horrific stomach pain and constipation.
I sought out a doc in Chicago who was a specialist. He was surprised that I was still breathing by the time I got into his office. I went on a Monday and he had me in an operating room, doing a band repositioning on Wednesday. The repositioning didn't help alleviate the pain, unfortunately.
I know I HAD to have the band removed since I was in so much pain that I couldn't lift myself off the bed. However, since removal, I have had bouts of left shoulder pain still, as well as something even more irritating: nonstop sneezing, causing much pain and I sometimes even pass out from hyperventilating. Yesterday was one of those days again. It seems that my digestion has a lot to do with it... it's rather cyclical.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this particular phenomenon?! I have had a half a dozen docs diagnose me as having phrenic/ vagus nerve damage, but I haven't had any of them figure out WHAT course of action to take to HELP me.
The way I felt yesterday, I just wanted to give up and die. It's REALLY bad. I don't know what to do anymore and it makes me sad. I have had CTscans, seen allergists, internists; had acupuncture and have tried meditation and relaxation therapies. I am considering hypnosis at this point because what the hell can trying one more thing hurt, right?!
Thanks for any and all help. I really appreciate it. If anyone has had the same experience as I had, please feel free to message me... especially if there is anything *I* can do to help YOU. It's terrible to have complications and feel alone. I know this firsthand!
Nicci
