Wow! My surgery is exactly one month from today. I feel like I should be doing stuff to get ready but I don't know what to do. I must just be anxious. I've sampled a few different proteins, CIB, etc to see what I might like. I've read a few of the recommended books and have made a list of the other supplements that I need to purchase (calcium, vitamins, etc). I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on what I may be forgetting or what I should do in the next few weeks to "prepare" myself.

Congratulations!  It'll be here before you know it. A couple of things I did were to workout like crazy...making myself as strong as possible before surgery so I could bounce back.  I read read read these message boards about people that were fresh out of surgery so I kind of knew what to expect.  I tried to 'reset' my mind...focus on anything but food.  Went to my first support group meeting.  Scrubbed my house top to bottom because I figured I wouldn't feel much like cleaning and I live with slobs..LOL.  And just basically kept myself busy. Good luck to you!

That's great advice: workout, read positive messages, prepare mindset and keep busy! Thanks!

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I had my lap band surgery one week ago today by Dr. Garren!!  You are in good hands. My advice to you in the preop part of this journey is to remain positive!  The 2 week liquids is not at all like I expected....it was easy!  The slimfast were SO filling.  That along with the water/crystal light all day and an occasional jello I felt like I was unable to take one more sip or I would float away!  I lost 13 lbs in those 2 weeks and never felt hungry.  After that first day I committed to being positive...it really is mind over matter.   This month will fly by for you!  Good luck and I hope to meet you at the support group sometime.  All the best, Sarah
