TGIF! Did anyone have their RNY at Meriter Hospital? I'd love to know about your experience. My previous procedures have been done at the UW, but I don't want to be unfairly biased. I'm sure they're great otherwise they wouldn't be part of the Center of Excellence right?

I had my lap-band at Meriter - I really prefer it to UW.  I work with UW a lot at my job, and I'm just not real thrilled at the way they do things there. Dr. Garrin was my surgeon, Dr. Solenski was my anesthesiologist, and they were both wonderful - so were all the nurses.  Oh, and I had a 1:1 nurse in the recovery room - I'm not sure if that's the norm at Meriter, but I would guess so because I had no complications.

Thanks for the reassurance about Meriter Hospital and the care you've received. All of the feedback about Dr. Garren has been positive bar none. I'm excited to meet him and while I'm worried about the surgery in general, I'm very excited to join the losers bench!

You haven't met him yet?  Let me just warn you - he is one good-lookin' man.  In fact, by the time they put me out, I was getting a little self-conscious, because the anesthesiologist was also smokin', and so was my (male) circulating nurse!

You're right! LOL! I've seen him but have yet to meet him 1-on-1. My appointments are on the 15th and the 25th. Guess you won the lottery that day. How fun!

I had my surgery with Dr. Garren at UW Hospital.  I chose it for the exact opposite reason as one of the previous posters -- I previously worked at Meriter and I did not like the way *they* did things.  I also wanted a private room, which I was told I would not have at Meriter.  I was 110% satisfied with every aspect of my UW Hospital experience.  So much so that I chose it over Meriter (again) to have my upcoming knee surgery.
