I've got a date!!
After waiting over a week for my surgeon's office to call me to schedule a date, I finally called them yesterday and have been scheduled for February 25th!! The surgery scheduler claims I was the next person she was going to call. WHATEVER!! I'm just glad the waiting is almost over.
Now I have the task of telling my parents what I'm doing. Not that they can stop me, I'm 34, but I just have a feeling they will try to talk me out of it. They are both overweight, with multiple health problems. My dad, who's only 59, underwent a triple bypass and valve replacement in November. He's also a diabetic (adult on-set) and has high cholesterol. My mom, she's had high blood pressure and high cholesterol for as long as I can remember. I just hope they can see that I don't want to end up like them.
I have two amazing boys, 5 & 7, and I want to be able to do things with them and not have them be embarassed when their friends see me.
Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations on your date! Keep the faith because you know what's right for you. At first my husband and parents were very worried, but I educated them with everything I was learning and now they are supportive. I also made the decision to tell my friends and close neighbors and they have been amazing with their support. You might be surprised at who will show you some love!
