I have a pre-op on Thursday and the nurse called and said it would take 3-4 hours. What kind of tests are involved to take this long?  Thank you

Hello Jean!!!!  I had my surgery on August 8 2007.  Dr Baker was also my doctor and he is a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL man!!!   I remember going in for my pre-op testing and leaving approx. 4.5 hours later.  I think it took that long because the lab was backed up.  But you can't eat or drink 12 hours before hand and by the time I was leaving the hospital I had the worst headache ever.  I believe (if I remember correctly),  you get yourself pre-registered, you talk to a nurse, you get baseline labs drawn, and I believe you meet with a couple other people for I can't remember what.  I just didn't think I was ever gonna get out of there, and I was never so happy to be done with that day. Good luck to you. Heather Surgery Date: 8/8/07 GLMC LaCrosse, WI Dr Matthew Baker:) Start weight: 237 Surgery date weight: 237 Today weight: 174 Total loss: 63 pounds
