New member - Hi everyone!!
Joni,
Congrats on your surgery! I actually went to the seminar on Monday and was surprised and happy to find out that my hubby could come to the meeting! I think it helped him understand alittle bit more and now I think he's alittle more open to the possibility of surgery. I have a doctor appt today to start that 6 month supervised diet business. I haven't 100% decided yet but figure I should at least start so that come March or so I can decide for certain.

Hey Melissa! Welcome!
I go to midwest bariatrics too, had the lap band not RNY, but either way the staff there is awesome and they seem to really have everything together and have a good program. I have absolutely no complaints about MWB. Dr Wasco is my surgeon and Betsy the nurse practitioner and both are great.
I'd say have your husband come to the seminar with you, I learned so much from it. I was questioning myself to have WLS or not and when I went to the seminar, it sealed the deal and made my decision final.
I think everyone's biggest fear is that something will go wrong. There are risks with any surgery, even non-WLS. But there are risks for being overweight too. Make a list of the pros and cons of surgery and of not having surgery. Overall I will take my risks and not look back in hopes that I'll be thin, healthy and have no complications.
Take care!

Welcome Melissa,
I, too am new to the Revision Site. I'm from a small village of Greendale in Wisconsin. I just started my liquid diet today with a bypass surgery scheduled for Wednesday the 5th. I'm a mom of a 24 yr old daughter currently attending UWM in Milwaukee doing a double major in Chemistry. I've got a husband like yours. He too says that I'm beautiful the way I am but knows that this is my decision and he knows that I wouldn't enter into this without being fully informed and says he'll support me with whatever decision I make. Now my brothers, 5 in total, (I'm the only and youngest girl) they are another story. They are from the old school of thinking and firmly believe that I can do this on my own. Saying this as they are filling their faces with food I might add. And all but one has Diabetes. One has Diabetes and Sleep Apnea, and High Blood Pressure. 3 have had their knees replaced, due to what I think is the excessive weight their poor joints have to carry around. I would sooner be tarred and feathered before putting my body through all of that. Well, maybe not tarred and feathered, but I think you know what I mean.
Anyhow, I'm scheduled for the surgery and hope and pray that all goes well. I'm a firm believer that if God didn't want me to go through all this over again knowing what could possibly go wrong, I feel he wouldn't have let me get approved by the Ins Co in less than 2 wks time.
I wish you all the best of luck. Please do all the researching you possibly can before deciding on what to do and think positive. You already made the first step by contacting us. That's what we're hear for. Write anytime with any questions or concerns.
God Bless
