Any one contemplating wl surgery and scared at the idea??
I am in the process of making the decesion of having wl surgery. I recently had near death experience due to an infection in my lymphatic leg and almost died . Since then I am just soooo scared to even go to a hospital let alone be a patient again. It was a very long traumatic experience. Is there anyone out there who can help me along the way with some words of courage? I really need to loose the weight I am a mother and it is harder to get around at 400 pounds and know it would help the lymphedema.. email me if you want to for support ...thanks.. d
At 400 Lbs. The benefits outweigh the risks by a mile!!! Attend some support group meetings. I know there's a group in Green Bay that meets and also the 3rd Weds. of every month Dr. Chua's group has support group meetings from 6-7 pm At Aurora Sinai in Milw. I attend this group and it's very supportive and informational. I was really scared like you and now I'm hoping to have my surgery scheduled by mid October.
My sister lives in Appleton. I think Neenah has a good bariatric program. My brother in Law is a Psychologist in Appleton and he has many patients that see him post op and pre op for support. His name is Dr. Steven klein Maybe he can help you in your desision. Good Lcuk. E-mail me anytime.

Hello D ! I had the full bypass in June and I am so glad I did I feel sooooo much better and I can get around better and do a few things so far with my kids, I have lost about 60lbs so far and am enjoying every pound gone. I too was very afraid I had never really had a major surgery before I even wrote my will and talked to my kids about what would happen if something went wrong. So your not alone I think most of us go through what you are feeling. If you have any more questions feel free to email me.
HUGS......Marie
