this Monday 8/27 I go to green bay for a seminar on gastric bypass surgery, Tuesday I see a psych dr in Menasha as part of my pre op procedure. I'm having a revision from the lap band to the RNY .. not sure of the date yet, probably September. Dr isn't positive if they will remove the band and do the bypass in ONE procedure or not. He may decide to remove the band and then wait 2 weeks then do the bypass. I hope not, I'm tired of waiting. I have had so many set backs with the lap band and I cannot put myself thru the waiting and guessing and all the poking in my gut any more.   I was banded 8/05 and have had only a few months here and there where my band really was working, right now I have NO restriction at all.. :( any one else go to midwest baiatrics?? anyone else had this revision done??

Kathy, I had Dr.Wasco also. I had surgery (lap-band) July 18,2005. I have not seen him since my first office visit. I have had Dr. Georgen and Betsy do my fills. May I ask why you are doing a revision? I am really out the loop and have not been on the site for over a year. the last time I went into the office I had most of my fill removed due to being overfilled and had heartburn alot. I have not gone back. I just decided that I was not doing the program the way i should have so I quit going. I have maintained my 55lb wt loss and got myself back on track. My next appt is sept.17 . I walk 3.5 miles everynight (rain permitting) but my eating is out of control. I can eat way more than I should and often do. I want to lose another 60-70 lbs. I guess I had a few head problems about the way I look now with the flabby skin and saggy everything and it turned me off. I have worked through the issues regarding my body image and need to get healthy. My cholesterol is still high and recently even with the exercise my bloodpressure is agin elevated. I was able to get off my b/p meds after I lost the first 40lbs but now it's right back up there where it was!!!! I'm sure my job has a lot to do with that. Good Luck on your appt and I hope you can have everything done at once.    cynthia

Cynthia.. Im doing a revision because Ive already had my port replaced and now I cannot hold a fill at all. must be another leak somewhere. since my banding 8/2005, Ive only had an actually working band for a few months total.

just dont want to deal with it any more.

kathy, I don't blame you. How do they handle the cost of the revision ? I don't understand how a band can fail twice  are they defective?  I hope your insurance does not have to cover all this. who did your fills? I always have betsy fill me she gets it in there the first time without any numming. Dr. Georgen really left me black and blue the last time he did it he could not get it in and fished around alot. I was afraid he would polk a hole in the tube while he was in there. I have had multiple fills and unfills in the past but nothing for the past year. I have not lost anything in the last year either but now I'm ready to get my head back into the game.good luck with your appt and let me know how you are doing. you have really had a bad go of it and it's hard enough having the surgery and then not getting the results you deserve that's hard. at least I only live and hour away from theda clark your much farther away so it has to be hard                                                                                         cynthia

Malia, I think some of my problem is when you have a surgery like this you never (or I never) think that you will need more surgery. I kinda was in denial thinking that I was going to look awsome. you always hear of people that have to have plastic surgery after but not me I was different. then I get to thinking why am I doing this I am 50 years old and I have a husband who loves me and things are great.  then I would get compliments that I looked really good and I knew under all my cloths it was very ugly and I did not feel good about it.  the reason I did not go back is because I lost my drive and was not following program and I had to work it out in my own head that what I was doing was for my health not as much for looks (that helps)  I got a real wake-up call about a month ago when I had the girls a work take my blood pressure and it was really high. I have been off b/p meds for over a year. I took a new job at work and the stess and pressure is getting to me. I went to my family doctor and my cholesterol is again very high so I had to take a good look at why I did this in the first place and it was my health that comes first. I want to be around for my kids and grandkids and hubby. I also know the support I get from this site has always been a big help and I thank you all for being here and I will make a better effort to log on everyday to get support and to give it also.  I'm actually getting excited about my appt and starting back on track.                        Cynthia

Hi there! I am 2 months post - op and Dr. Georgen of Midwest Bariatrics was my surgeon. He is excellent and I've heard all positive things about Dr. Wasco as well. I did not have a revision- I had RNY. I sailed through without any complications and things have been going very smoothly. Everyone at the office is very supportive and easy to work with. Best of luck to you. Oh, and if you are seeing Dr. Groh in Menasha- he's really great, too!
