Back to Work

Now that I've got my date set (Aug. 7), I'm starting to obsess about all sorts of things.  This week it's work.  I'm just wondering how long people take before they are going back to work?   I have a job where I'm sitting at a desk most of the time, but it can get pretty high stress.

Hi Joni!   I had my surgery July 10 and today was my 1st day back at work.  I have had no complications, am following the diet fine, getting in my water and protein.  I have made it thru the day and even put in an hour of OT.  Though I wish I had more time off now that I am feeling good so that I would have some time to enjoy myself, I think it is good to be back to normal life! Best of luck, you will do great! P.S.  I also work at a desk.  Kinda stressful depending on how my clients are acting:)

I too was wondering the same thing, so I asked what the usual time line is.  I was told from my surgeon's NP, that as long as i'm following the diet, getting all my water in and protein, I should be able to come back to work in 4 weeks.  So surgery is tomorrow and I'm expecting to come back Aug 23rd.  I too have a desk job, and as usual... can be stressful.  Good Luck to each of you.  Chris

It's all going to depend on whether you have lap or open.  I started back to work (from home) 4 hours a day at 4 weeks and will go back full time (in office) at 6 weeks.  I had open, but I saved quite a bit of money in preparation for the surgery in addition to getting STD pay at 60% while I'm off.   Your surgeons will let you know when they normally let people return to work.  If you took STD, you will probably need his written okay to return.
