I'm back from the other side

Hello everyone! I'm back from the hospital today- surgery was Tuesday. It went really well according to the surgeon but I was not prepared for the pain that I would have. I know some people have relatively little pain but, oh boy, i felt like a mac truck hit me in the abdomen. Water, broth and jello have been going down well. I am still working on getting rid of this extra gas- ugh! But overall the surgery went smoothly. I'm looking forward to next Monday when I have my first follow-up appointment and my drain comes out. Then I can shower! Take care everyone and thanks for all the support!

Oh Joelle, so glad to hear all went well for you!  Sorry however to hear  about the pain you had to deal with.  I've heard from other laproscopic patients that when the drain came out they felt 50 times better.

I had open and did not have much pain at all.....I chalk it up to walking  and walking and walking!  I hardly laid or sat in the hospital, the gas  would build up between my shoulder blades and I felt better walking,  that would allow me to burp more. Take care and walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip.

Hugs And Kisses Pam

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm just learning. What do you mean by drain?
