Hello everyone *waves* I am new to the site and just wanted to say hi.  I am a bad patient and I live in Platteville, Wisconsin.  I am a college student there entering my 4th year (Wow that went fast) studying mathematics.  I am also a 6 month post op and have lost 60ish pounds(not really sure the actual number will come in on Thursday).  I started at 422 and I am down to the 360's which is mind boggeling to me.  I dropped from a size 68 pant to a 54 (which are now starting to fall off).  This weekend I get the pleasure of telling my grandmother about surgery.  She hasn't seen me since last august which was about 4 months before surgery and doesn't know about I was having it.   She may not be the best support so wish me luck.

Just wanted to welcome you!  I'm generally on the MN board as I had surgery there.  You've done a great job, congratulations. Maybe your grandma will see how much more healthy and happy you are and be okay with it. If you don't think you can tell her, just let her know you've been working closely with a doctor, it's true. Take care!

Hello in Platteville-Algebrapro Congrats on your surgery and all your positive changes. Is it not truly wonderful? I also started out at a very high BMI and I know that doing this was the right thing to do. I am older than you and wish I would have done it a long time ago. Good luck telling your Grandma and I hope she will see those wonderful changes herself and be very happy for you. You will have to let us know how it turns out. Take care, Cathy
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

This is Amy from school - I am SO glad to see you posting!  Thanks for replying to my post the other day, I am about the same but at least I have some help from a doctor now so we'll see how this all goes. I hope all goes well with your grandma - she should be SO proud of you!  If she isn't, well, she is silly.  I hope you're having a good summer and when I am in town more we will have to try to get together sometime.
