It's really REAL!!!
I got a call yesterday from the surgeon's office. They recieved my paperwork(diet log and questionnaire). She said I am DEFINITELY a candidate for surgery. I got a bunch of appts. set up. I need to see my PCP once a month for 6 months, dietician every other months for 3 visits, an excercise therapist and psychologist. I also need to go to ONE support group meeting. There is a meeting next Tuesday so I think I'm going to go to that one and get that done with. I see the surgeon for the first time on July 16th. OMGosh!!! I just cant believe this is actually happening!!!!! I'm sooooooooooo hoping my insurance will approve me.
Tara
Good luck Tara, I too am going through the process to get approved. I met with Dr. Brebrick and he seemed really nice. I am planning to have surgery with Dr. Wieland but I met with Dr. Brebrick for a second surgical opinion I needed for Ins. I have one more appt. this week with my primary dr. and tonight I need to attend one support group in Wausau and then next week everything will get submitted to Ins. I went through all of this in 2005 and got denied 3 times because my Ins requires that you have 3 YEARS of Dr. visits directly prior to WLS, and I had never seen my Dr the whole year of 2004. So since then I have been seeing my primary every 3 months and now every month for the last 6 months. I think Wausau hospital is excellent though! Well hopefully you and I will both be losers soon!!!

Hi again
To make sure you do everything your insurance company wants you can contact the employee benefits area of your company's HR dept. They know what is covered and what requirements the insurance co. has. I have heard over and over again that doctor's offices have problems with insurance co.'s. It took 2 years for my approval because I didn't know the rules. The HR dept. could have set me on the right path if I had contacted them first.
I hope things go smoothly for you.
Linda
