Hello WI forum, I'm new here
Hello, I'm new to the site & hope to meet & talk with anyone who is around the Northern WI area who has had RNY. I've found the site & forums so far very helpful with lots of info. I still have a zillion questions as right now I've only had my initial consult & started the pre-approval process. Please feel free to say hey on my profile, I need a friend here. Don't have a big support family. Thank you! Dee
Hello Dee - and welcome! You will find lots of information here, as well as opinions galore! The biggest lesson I've learned so far is that while we share similar surgeries, every person's experience is different! Make sure to always check with your doc or surgeon on any advice or input you get from the boards.
As for questions - ask away!!! Best of luck on your journey!

Welcome to the board.I don't post here often, I'm in Michigan but had my surgery in Wisconsin it will be four years in August..At that time there was no one in the UP doing the surgery.I see Dr Kemmerling is your surgeon,he was mine also, you are in safe hands,he is awesome. It's been almost four years and have kept my weight off,I have bad days like yesterday where I ate everything I saw.Today I will make up for it and and eat very little,it works for me.I have gone from a size 18/20 to a 10/12 . It cracks me up that I can still turn a few heads so I know I'm lookin good and feel even better! I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat.Good luck in your jouney to a healthier life.Keep us posted on your progress.
Hello Gussie! Thank you. Yes I really do like Dr Kemmerling. The more I read on how differerent surgeons can be with their processes, I realize what a wonderful choice I have made. He's so thorough & his bariatric staff seem to have exceptional aftercare. Congrats also on your success! I esp love that you are "turning heads" :) Be well, I hope to be on the loosing side in a few months, I will start posting more... say hi anytime! Dee
Thanks Cheryl!!! I am sooo looking forward so this "journey" (I totally think this word is overused, haha, but it's the only way to describe this...) I am now at the point where I am getting nervous, I have my psych appt on Monday & almost done with my 3 month supervised weight loss. I'm hoping this dream comes true. I appreciate the support! Dee
hi there- i'm up in mercer near hurley if you know where that is. just wanted to say congrats that you're here on the board and on your way to a better and healthier you!!! if you'd like to chat, i'm on msn all the time- more often than on here. my email is [email protected] and i had the open rny surgery on march 13th. i was at the time 510 in the hospital- that was my highest weight! now i'm already down to 414!!! so there is hope and i hope you will use us as a tool and support group- YOU CAN DO IT!! i thought i was well on my way to death and dr. seidel told me i was had i not had the surgery. it is forever life changing but in such a good way. i didn't have too much support either but when it came out that i was going to have surgery, i was very mad and didn't want anyone to know- i'm glad they did though, it was a blessing to have them around to support me- and by that i mean they gave me compliments- i'd never had someone tell me how great i looked til now! so try try try and hopefully you and i can become friends and you can use me and others likeme as your support group. good luck!
Tara, thank you so much! I actually can hear the sweetness in your message! Congrats to you, as well! You seem to be doing wonderful! I will definately keep in touch & will love to chat ( but I don't have msn), email me here anytime... I would love to know all about your recovery & experiences. I have to have my psych appt monday- pretty scary, not sure what to expect, pray for me to come through it. Then it should only be a matter of Insurance saying yes, which I should qualify. Please please please... Take care, write soon! Dee
well, my experience was hell-ish. i waited four years for approval! the only reason is because i had insurance through work and they kept changing it every year! then they finally got a good one and i went through everything but they said i had to have a year of diet counsel instead of just six months so i finished that and surprisingly i was home free!! it was such a surprise that i wasn't quite prepared it would be scheduled so fast! my hospital experience was different though- very scary for someone whose never been in there before in her life! everything went good and i'll have to write you back and let you know how the rest has been. try to have a good attitude on your psych eval- they won't let you have it if you're depressed or have other problems- i had to have an hour long testing before i saw the shrink. they want you to realize what the whole process entails and what is required of you. also if you have alot of mental health issues, they want u to work on those first. luckily i past and i'm sure you will to. i'll pray for ya to be approved quickly! take care. tara
