Hi Marie, you are not dying and you will get through this. I am just 4 weeks post op and just met with Diane and she said I am doing very well, so it can be done. Try to do puzzles, read a book, go for a walk, talk to a friend, before you know it, it will be surgery day. Pureed food will seem like your best friend!!!!!!! Hang in there, you can do it, I have faith in you. See you at one of the meetings. Hugs to you, Rose

Sorry to hear you are struggling on the LD.  I can only imagine that it will get a little easier everyday.  I will say a prayer that it does get easier.  Just think though, you are almost there!  It won't be long and you will be a LOSER!

As the time goes by it will get easier. I was so ready for the surgery that I was bound and detemined to do everything by the book. So my time on the LD, went by so fast. I really did not have a hard time with it. I hope as the days go by you will have an easier time too. I wish you all the luck. And I am glad you will be on the loosing side soon.  take care betty

I promise you are not dying, you just think you are dying!   I too felt the same way when they guys from U of W put me on the same thing.  In  few days you will be OK and get use to it.  Just rememeber why you are doing it and what the advanatges are.  A month from now you will be so pleased you did this. You can do this! Greg

Hi Marie, Hang in there..I know it is tough but you can do it. I have a little trick for you to make your CIB taste better that is ok to do. If you can get to a Walmart in the coffee aisle there are Sugar Free DaVinci's Syrups there. Get the Caramel and the Hazelnut. Put a bit of both in with your shakes and it will taste alot like a Snickers candybar. It is a legal way to have it. I used to drink that and just loved to smell the empty glass... Also I am assuming you can have broth??? If so...Better Than Bullion is a very nice broth to make. Better than the cubes. This is a paste. I drank a couple of those a day as I was tired of all the sweet stuff. Wishing you the best and usually after day three your hunger will be more manageable. Cathy
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

I remember feeling that very same way!  I even posted about it on my profile.  The thing is, it will pass and pass quickly.  The first night was absolute misery for me, but after a few days, it was old hat.  I actually found that I wasn't even hungry enough to eat the 5 carnation instant breakfasts on some days.  I had to force myself to do so.  The good news is that I lost about 15 pounds in two weeks following that plan! You will be able to do this!  You need to do this to have the safest surgery possible.  Good luck on your big day!  I had Drs. Garren and Gould, too, and they are fantastic.  I'm almost exactly three months post-op and I've lost over 75 pounds since the process started.  A few weeks on a liquid diet is a small price to pay for having surgery and feeling much healthier. Keep us posted ... Tess
