Is anyone here a patient of Dr Garren/Gould in Madison???
Hi Angie! I'm a patient of theirs and they are fab. I had my surgeon consult today and Dr.Garren is soooooooo nice. Have you been to any of east Madisons support groups? They are the 2nd Monday of each month. I am having surgery on June 5th so I'm getting very excited. Are you having surgery? If so when and what type?
Feel free to contact me anytime. Hope I can help!!

I just had my last appt with the psych today. She said I should be getting a call from Deann or Dawn to schedule the surgery and anything else I might need prior to it. How far out did they schedule your surgery?? Just wondering if I am looking at surgery in August or later. I was at the last support group meeting. I was impressed with the number of people there. I am getting excited about it and really cant wait to get it scheduled.
HI ANGIE,
I THINK I REMEMBER SEEING YOU AT THE LAST MEETING BY YOUR PICTURE. I AM A PATIENT OF THEIRS, AND HAVING SURGERY ON MAY 8th. I AM HAVING LAPERSCOPIC RNY SURGERY, I AM CURRENTLY 402 LBS AND 5'10''. TELL YOU WHAT, YOU HAVE MADE A GREAT CHOICE WITH THE UW PROGRAM. I HAVE DONE OVER A YEAR'S WORTH OF RESEARCH AND VISITS, AND THIS IS THE BEST PROGRAM BY FAR. DR'S GARREN AND GOULD ALONG WITH THEIR STAFF ARE VERY CARING, FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGABLE PEOPLE. I KNOW AUGUST SEEMS LIKE A LONG WAY AWAY, BUT HANG IN THERE, AND REMEBER IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO PUT IT ON. I WOULD RECCOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP ATTENDING THE SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS, AS IT MAKES THE TIME GO FASTER, YOU WILL LEARN MORE STUFF, AND YOU WILL GET TO KNOW THE WHOLE STAFF BETTER. IF YOU NEED TO TALK MORE, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME, REMEMBER, I HAVE SURGERY NEXT TUESDAY. HANG IN THERE, BEST OF LUCK ON YOUR WLS JOURNEY.

Hi angie,
it's me again. I forgot about your question. I have my surgery 2 months and 3 days after psych appt. You'll have plenty of appt's in between. After psych appt. It took a week and a half for my call, for my surgery date. Hopefully, you'll have surgery in the end of June -- beginnning of July.

Hi Angie:
Yes, I have Dr's Garren & Gould and they ROCK!!!!!!
My whole journey took almost two years, but once the insurance approval finally came, they were very accomodating in getting me in for my surgery within a few weeks.
I LOVE this program and am SO happy that I chose them instead of the others that are closer to my home. The care received is worth the extra drive. I really can't say enough good things about them. The support groups are really good too.
Good luck to you, you have chosen the best team in the area!
Dawn
HI Angie, I am Dr. Garren's patient and he is wonderful. I had my Lap Band surgery on April 20th so I am at the pureed food stage. The whole UW Bariatric group is wonderful and I have gotten a lot out of going to the support group meetings. I am happy to say that on my home scale I am down 23 pounds since April 6th when I started on the liquids. Just make sure you are following all the steps leading up to the surgery, no caffeine, no soda, smaller portions and EXERCISE. Good luck, hope to see you at a meeting.

I had Lap Band surgery with Dr. Garren on March 27th. It seemed like forever to get everything to fall into place, but once all the approvals went through, it went very quickly. Of course, once the approvals went through, I was scrambling to get everything in order for my absence at both of my jobs...which made it seem like time was flying. :-)
