Looking for Lap Band patients, want to hear their experiences!
Hi everyone. I have a Surgeon picked out and have set up appointments with my current doctors to recieve referral letters, ect. I am 30 years old, and want to have children in the near future. I have been thinking very hard about which surgery to have, and I am looking for anyone who has been successful with Lap Band surgery. I have read all the information I can, but have yet to find someone who has had the surgery to talk to. I just want to find out how successful or unsuccessful lap band patients have been at losing weight and keeping weight off.
I haven't had lap band but I did some research on it. It sounds like RNY and lap band are fairly similar for weight loss over the long term -- 5 years out. And, its adjustable so if you plan on having a baby, it may be the way for you to go. We aren't suppose to get pregnant with the RNY for at least the first year and preferable for the first two years because its difficult enough to get nutrition at the beginning.
There is a lap band forum here on RNY. Maybe you can talk to some people there and get more information and support.
hey valerie,
i did alot of research and had the lapband surgery done 4 years ago.i started at 215,and it took almost 4 years to get down to 130.i somewhat cheated.i kept going back to my doc and i had him give me fills.i was so tight,i couldn't keep water down.i had a test done by another doc,and i was full of ulcers,i think from the vomiting.i got loosened up and have put on some weight.i'm going to get my band tightened next week again after 6 months.no more vomiting.that is good.my daughter had the gastric bypass done 5 years ago,not real succesful, and my friend had the bypass done in december.down 50#.i could of had the bypass, but after sitting with my daughter for 32 days in the hospital,i was not going that way.i would do this all over again.i had trouble registering.my email address is [email protected]
