Day 1 is for the basics: What is your name, where are you from, what type of surgery are you looking for/having, where are you at in the process, and of course anything else you want to share. (OK so really today is not a question - but a data gathering mission) Lori

I am planning to have surgery this spring with Dr. Burhop at Elmbrook Hospital in Brookfield. My insurance wanted me to do a three month physician supervised diet..I have completed it and am just waiting for my approval. I work part time from home for an author and love spending time at our cabin in Adams/Friendship. I am also very involved with my son's school. Hope to hear from you all! Lisa

Hello Everyone, My name is Julie Hoefs and I am from Ladysmith, Wi. I am going through the procedure to get approval for Roux en Y surgery in Wausau. I went through all of this in 2005 and got denied 3 times because my insurance requires doctor visits for 3 consecutive years directly before your surgery date, and being that I was only 30 and always had good paps my doc. said I didn't need yearly exams so I did not see him the whole year of 2004. Sooo every since then I have been seeing my doc every 3 months and since Jan every month and in June I will be able to submit everything to Ins. again. I had to go the everything again though, the phsyc. visit, PT and nutritionist visits. I also have went from pre-hypertension to now being on meds for hypertension. So I really hope I will get approval this time. I have an awesome, supportive husband, and 3 beautiful kids. I have been state licensed for in home daycare for 12 years and I love every min. of it still! Our family also does alot of camping in Hayward and a few yearly trips to Warrens (Jellystone). Good idea Lori!! My name is Valerie, I am from Racine, WI. I have been to a group information meeting with Dr Jandahli in Kenosha at Kenosha Memorial Hospital. I have scheduled doctors visits coming up over next couple of months to get all my letters and doctors records together. I am interested in Roux en Y surgery, but still checking all info I can about Lap Band too. I have been down this path before, 7 years ago insurance approved the surgery for me, but I chickened out, and three years ago they denied me, but I never fought back. I was too discouraged, and just decided to try another diet, which of course failed. I am 30 years old, currently no kids, I love going shopping, riding my bike and hiking, and riding around in our jeep wrangler with the top off, and going off roading with my husband and his cousin, who lives up in Necedah. I have been married for two years, my husband and I got married in Jamaica on the beach two years ago 04/18/05! I cant wait to have this surgery and really really enjoy life without worrying about my weight all the time!!

Hey all....it's soooo good to see people actually posting. WoooooHOOOO! I'm Pam and I live in Osceola. It is on the MN boarder, so I am having surgery at United Hospital in St. Paul. I am going to be having the Roux en Y done and I just got my letter today for my Surgeon Consult date. It is next Thursday. From there he approves me and it gets sent to insurance for approval and a surgery date is scheduled. I am a single mom of two great kids; a daughter 19, just finishing up her first year of college, and a boy 15, just finishing up his first year of high school. Also a mom to two animals....well, I could count the kids in that category too, but I won't. Titus, a ****er spaniel and Nougette, a calico cat. Keep posting everyone! I love it! Pam

Hi Lori! I'm also from Eau Claire and am having RNY surgery June 12th with Dr. Pitchford. I teach in the comm/journ dept. at the university here and am very glad I'll have the summer to recovery from surgery and learn some new eating habits. I travel with the university forensics team (that's a speech team, not an autopsy team - lol) nearly every weekend during the school year so I'm most nervous about learning how to get enough healthy protein from fast food places! I'm 41 and have no human children, just one fur baby - lol!
