I have recently been diagnosed with Fibro. Does anyone know of a great Dr. or clinic that helps fibro patients with pain, therapy, etc. I live right on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin so a southern Wisconsin Dr. or someone near Madison or Milwaukee would be ok. I need someone to help me. My rheumatologist is ok, but not great! I still struggle with pain and fibro-fog. Thanks, Kim M.

Hi again Kim! I posted about seeing the UW team for follow-up bariatric care on the IL board, and just want to let you know that my family and I would not go anywhere else for treatment of anything other than routine care. Not only do I have the very best bariatric care in the area, but we have a 14 year old son whose life was saved by the UW Children's hospital about 5 years ago. He has recovered completely from that illness, but now has an ENT up there, a health psychologist that taught him biofeedback to control his Tourette's, and will soon be meeting a pediatric nephrologist for kidney stones. If you choose to call the bariatric team, you could ask DeAnne if there is one in particular that she would recommend, or I could ask one of the doctors that I know from up there if you are interested. Otherwise, you can go the their web-site at www.uwhealth.org and search for a doctor on your own. Good luck to you! Dawn

Thanks again, Dawn! I have heard great things about UW Madison. I will check out their web-site when I am done writing you. I have a friend who has spent months their being treated for Lukemia. (SP?) I also need to check if my insurance will cover me there. I need either a rheumotologist or neurologist or pain management clinic or perhaps a combination of the 3 working together. You know, now that I think of it, a friend of ours who is a physician said, " If you are ever really sick, go to a university hospital because instead of one Dr. looking at your case, you will have multiple drs. helping you." Heaven knows, I need help. tee hee Take care and I'm off to www.uwhealth.org. Kim M.

I went to a teaching hospital for surgery because I thought it was best to go to "the doctors that teach doctors". A resident did the surgery and botched it. Then rather than my attending (who I thought was doing the surgery in the first place) fixing it, she had the resident fix it and it failed. Finally an experience doctor in private practice fixed me. It cost my insurance company $120,000 in the end and 18 months of my life, 3 surgeries, 100s of doctors appts 6 procedures and eventually my job. I realize they have to learn somewhere but I will never donate my body to science while I am alive again. I look for the top doctors in Milwaukee in "Milwaukee Magazine". Best of luck to you. Linda
