One year follow up
I had my one-year follow up about three weeks ago. The surgeon was very happy with my progress. I guess I am. I have lost 85 pounds. I'd like to lose more, but I've been pretty stable for a couple of months now. I am also having problems controlling my blood glucose. I met with the dietician today and I'm supposed to limit my lunch to two carbs. I don't really have a problem except for at lunch. It's very strange. I have new pictures on my profile if you'd like to see how I look now. New haircut, too!

I don't know if this will help but I am a diabetic also. I have been a type 2 diabetic since I was in my 20's. I had my RNY on 10/3/06. My first A1C many years ago was 14.6. I have been on many oral drugs as well as 3 insulins. I could never get my A1C under 7. It was often over 12. My first A1C after my surgery was 6.1. Then I was on my couch following foot surgery for 3 months and I thought it was going to go up but instead it went down to 5.8. I am on no medication. I have ended up on a 1500 calorie ADA diet. I eat one of each meat, starch, fat, fruit and milk for breakfast. Lunch is 3 meat, vege, 1 starch, 2 fat and 2 fruit. Dinner is 4 meat, 2 vege, 2 starch, 2 fat and 1 fruit. Bedtime snack is 1 each meat, starch and milk. I often "save" a part of my meal for a planned snack midmorning or midafternoon. I swim 1/2 hour every day (1000 yds). Best of luck to you. Your weightloss is better than mine. Congratulations. Linda
